A brand new collection of works from queer French artist Nicole Eisenman will be debuted at Sadie Coles this autumn. Their paintings and sculptures are revered for using dark humour and caricature to address heavy, oft-complex topics like gender, sexuality, race, labour, violence. Many are like odd, unsettling dreamscapes, taking cues from the likes of Francis Bacon, Otto Dix, Philip Guston. There’s not much info on what exactly these new pieces will look like, but we can expect them to have Eisenman’s signature satirical, surreal edge.
