A recent addition to the London art scene, Signature African Art kicks starts its programme with an exhibition by Oluwole Omofemi. The large-scale portraits are expressions of Afrocentric pride and, in particular, hair. The Nigerian artist considers the natural hair movement of the 60s and 70s, through to contemporary trends, while using hair as a metaphor for freedom.
