Time Out says

This exhibition, the first of its kind to take place outside of the United States, highlights the impact had by artists belonging to the Bay Area School. Seeking emotional freedom in a country that was about to plunge headlong into Cultural Revolution, the group created bold and powerful work that edged towards the birth of Abstract Expressionism. Battling the idea that it was New York that claimed cultural importance throughout the 40s, 50s and 60s, the show gives credit back to the west coast, aiding understanding of the post war American landscape.
