2017 is the centenary of the Russian Revolution, when Lenin and the Bolsheviks seized power to create the USSR. Many museums and galleries in London have marked this moment, addressing themes of hope, chaos, heroism and tragedy. Now it’s Tate Modern’s turn, and they’re looking through the eyes of David King, a photographer and designer who collected over 250,000 items – such as photography, and propaganda posters – and are showcasing it all with an exhibition focusing specifically on the October Revolution itself. Other classic artists from this era are on show too, such as El Lissitzky, Gustav Klutsis, Dmitri Moor, Aleksandr Deineka, Nina Vatolina and Yevgeny Khaldei.
