The artist deliberately avoids constructing a linear chronology with his exhibitions, preferring instead to highlight generalised moments or moods in his career including the times when earlier artworks are returned to or referenced. Because, as T.S. Eliot said, "Time present and time past are both perhaps present in time future..."
