Samia Halaby

Halaby's bold abstract paintings helped shape the course of contemporary Arab art. Endless fields of bright, almost neon dots fill her canvases, full of references to the abstract expressionists and post-impressionism. There's a strong political dimension to the work as well, with Halaby a fierce political campaigner. She's an important figure in middle eastern art, and more than worth catching.
