Slow Boat takes the form of an actual canal boat that's travelling from Birmingham to London manned by a crew composed of artists Benedict Drew and Sam Belinfante, as well as a clutch of young people encouraged to produce art on board. The boat's journey along historic trading route Grand Union Canal will come to a halt at London, where it will be moored outside the gallery for a week, giving the public a chance to see the work produced from field recordings to film footage and drawings. The exhibition is a collaboration between Chisenhale Gallery and Ikon Gallery in Birmingham, and is also part of Chisenhale's 'Offsite/Onsite', a sumemr programme of artists' commissions staged in and around the gallery.
