Ahead of its appearance on Thursday in Google’s DevArt gallery at the Barbican’s mindblowing ‘Digital Revolution’ exhibition, we’re giving you an exclusive first chance to play with Karsten Schmidt’s digital artwork ‘Co(de) Factory’.
Schmidt’s clever concept gets visitors to digitally design an intricate sculpture like the one above, using just eight commands. (It’s so easy even the simple-minded Time Out folk could manage it.) One design will be made into an object every day by a next-generation 3D printer, and then displayed for the duration of the exhibition.

The show’s curator will pick his favourite and the winner will be given two free tickets to the exhibition on Saturday July 5 to see their design being created. We suggest trying it out at work this morning: just tell your boss you’re doing ‘creativity training’.

Please note: the DevArt tool has experienced a delay in going live and is expected to be accessible by 8am on Wednesday July 2. Please enter your details below to release the code and keep your eyes on devartcodefactory.com where you will be able to create your design soon. Apologies for the delay!
