Leeds Castle, Kent

A picturesque Norman castle set on two islands in the middle of a lake with 500 acres of beautifully kept grounds to picnic in when you’ve exhausted the medieval furnishings, paintings and tapestries – and the collection of antique dog collars. Children particularly enjoy the maze, the grotto and the aviary.

Leeds Castle is so beautiful various owners have owned this castle from Henry viii to Lady Baillie. The rooms inside are spectacular dawned with lovely furniture, tapestries, gold, bird ornaments etc. Lady Baillie was a lover of birds this is why so many from tables to ornaments is bird related. The grounds also have so many birds from swans to ducks.

The grounds are beautiful and are really well maintained with so many different type of plants/flowers. There is also a maze and in the centre you go down into a wonderful grotto with its walls covered in the shells. Also at Leeds Castle you can watch Falcony or even pay to do falconry yourself there is also other activities you can do at Leeds Castle from Segways to golf.

You can even stay at Leeds Castle or even get married (civil service) there they also lay on events from Easter egg hunt to fireworks night. I went to a murder mystery event which was put on really well with funny innuendos by the actors / actresses plus me and some of the other audience had parts to play. The meal that was given was just ok but the whole night and staying at Leeds Castle was outstanding and I would definitely do it again. You can find out about what's on at Leeds Castle by going to their website highly recommend to anyone that loves castles and birds as there are so many from black swans to ducks.
