Lesnes Abbey Woods

South-east London abounds with Grade II-listed buildings and in this case – goth alert! – it’s a pictureseque ruined abbey, complete with its own woods and fossil pit, where you can have a careful rummage for petrified remains of creatures, including sharks’ teeth from a staggering 54.5 million years ago.
