This is a great place to visit in the summer with friends, family or even you dog! Its got a real little beach which is great fun for the kids and also a steam train that you see whizzing around. As for the adults, there are some great little spots for a picnic or a nice walk around the area, and if you go early morning you can even go into the woods for a mini hike, its so beautiful and peaceful!

Lido is 20 minutes by walk from my house and its beautiful! I walk through Ruislip woods, its so calm and tranquil in the mornings or late in the evenings. Lido does get busier on the hottest of days, theres a lovely sandy beach area for the kids, and a vast green park area towards the back. Lots to do here, a nice walk around the acres is good too, a great way of keeping fit for free.

Ruislip lido

Good place to go with friends, with kids, with dogs. A lot to do and to enjoy for anyone. You have a sandy clean beach, well organised with a playground for kids and a café for grownups, then on the other side there is Waters Edge pub and carvery. Nothing fancy but does the job to have a cold bear or a glass of wine and a reasonably-priced meal. Pub, cafes woods, train, beach, ice cream, it has something for everyone. You can sit on the benches outside if the weather is good and it’s very charming by the lake with swans and ducks. You can have a picnic as well. There is a car park with quite enough places and buses from Ruislip drop off outside. You can also enjoy a miniature steam train which takes you through the woods to the other side of the lake and which both adults and children enjoy. You  can have a walk around the lake and there are lots of people with their dogs enjoying a nice stroll.

If you want a lovely freebie day out at a lido with a genuine beach then Ruislip Lido is the answer.

This site is lovely all year round but obviously gets impressively busy come the summer months.

It has a huge lido area, loads of grassy space for sunbathing or picnics, a genuine beach area, a large kids playground zone and a pub on site for those that don't want to go down the picnic route. And it's got a little train!! Winning all round.

Just having a stroll around the lake at this site is a lovely experience.

It has a large car park but it does get very busy in the sunny summer months so get down there asap :)

We (2 parents & toddler), had a great day out at Ruislip Lido. It's safe to say that our little one did not want to leave come the end of the day. Apart from the obvious draw of a BEACH (!!) & lake, there is a great selection of climbing frames and play areas integrated into the shore area. There's also a gated water-play area for children to get drenched in. Lots of variety for a day's play!

Top spot for a picnic too! You can set-up on the beach, or, if you prefer a little less sand in your sandwich, you can sit on one of the large green spaces nearby.

To top it off there's a miniature railway that acts as a shuttle from car parks, making it a fun journey with young ones ... and adults!

A great day out and a space that I was completely unaware of until Time Out suggested it. Thanks!!!
