French sculptor Pierre Vivant’s public artwork is a tree made from 75 independently functioning traffic lights. Quite the Docklands icon, it now sits in Poplar, its second location since it was first erected in 1988. Its lights are meant to reflect the energy of nearby Canary Wharf – drivers should absolutely not follow its lead.
