One of the very first sites to be acquired by the National Trust, these ‘water meadows’ date back to the middle ages. The Trust introduced a series of ornamental trees and shrubs in the inter-war years; of late, a large amount of money has been spend try to remove them and return the Watermeads back to their original state.
