A monument dedicated to Dick Whittington, 'thrice Lord Mayor of London'. The stone, which has his famed feline companion perched atop it, supposedly marks the spot where Whittington heard the Bow bells beckoning him back to London (this was a time when Archway wasn't considered part of the city).
