The wooden chairs and tables spilling on to the pavement beneath a wide blue awning, the small room with its white walls, the bonhomie of the chef and patron, the buzz of a contented local crowd – all play to the popular image of a French wine bar. But you’d be hard-pressed to find as considered, interesting and wide-ranging a wine list across the Channel. The ‘10 cases’ of the name refer to the maximum quantity bought in, which keeps the line-up fresh and seasonal. The 20-plus wines on the list, available by glass, carafe and bottle, will likely be gone when you next visit – a shame, if the quality of much of what we tried is any indicator. The food has taken time to match these standards, but we’ve been more impressed of late. There are snacks such as pimientos de padrón and salt and pepper squid, but the focus is on more formal starters and mains: satisfying bistrot-inflected Modern European cooking. Braised pork belly with pea and bean ragoût, and red mullet with lentils and coriander and chilli pesto, were well made and resonant with flavour. If you’re here mainly for wine, decamp to the shop next door where you can drink in small quantities from Enomatic dispensers or pay £12 corkage to quaff your purchase, along with a few meat, cheese or salad plates.

Catching up with friends, they had arranged and booked here, we arrive early, and sat al fresco outside crowd watching, whilst drinking wine, once everyone arrived we were inside, and the menus were across the walls, the salad was amazing, in fact the food & service were all good, worth trying out!
I went here recently with one of my friends and they tried to stick us in the restaurant area which was very quiet and had very little atmosphere. Luckily we managed to nab a table on the other side which was a whole different story. The wine was so good our "quick drink" turned in to a bottle (or 2). We hadn't planned on eating there but we quickly got food envy and ended up ordering a couple of the tapas/sharing boardings, thankfully they taste as good as they smell. This would be a great place for a date.
Great little place away from the main (aka tourist) thoroughfares of Covent Garden. Don't be misguided by the name and the ethos - it's a great place for food as well as wine! Quite small space but no parties bigger than six so it's never too noisy either.
Loved this place. A relaxing dining experience with friendly unobtrusive service. Food was excellent, and the portions just the right size to enable you to manage a 3 course meal in comfort. Nice selection of wines too, and being able to buy by the glass allowed us to sample several types. We will be back!
Guy Diamond has got this place totally wrong and hasn't understood the concept. This is a gem of a Bistro, serving high-quality food - no, it's not haute-cuisine but it's not trying to be. There are only 3 of each course because the menu changes daily which is ensures top quality, freshness and makes it a pleasure to go back again and again - seriously Guy; go and talk to the owners, or the cliental, or just go back with your eyes open (noone else seems to have had such a problem however...)!
Have eaten here several times and never had a bad meal.Excellent friendly service and good atmosphere.Felt like being in France.Fresh good quality ingredients simply cooked and good value.Wish I had it in my neighbourhood!
Stumbled onto this place on our way to the Theatre. Salad was so-so, fish was great, my friends enjoyed the wine (I don't drink). The place had a nice neighbourhood feel to it.
A thoroughly enjoyable meal, admittedly simple but very well made and full of flavour. excellent tarts. lovely wine, thoug 1 bottle tried did disappoint, quickly replaced by another tried already. Of course, full marks to Annabelle, for fine and friendly service. We'll try again.
