A gold card might come in handy at the Blue Bar. If money is no object, it would be easy to rack up a grand’s bar bill, but the average £16 price tag on cocktails is a bit more modest. As such, the setting – as created by the late design guru David Collins – is every bit as luxe as you’d expect for a bar in a Knightsbridge hotel, with blue carried from the walls to the floors, and covering every chair and every menu. It’s not blue to the bitter end, though – on our last visit we found Labour party cheerleader Janet Street-Porter propping up the bar. Don’t be surprised to find a few famous faces from every side of the political spectrum here.

Cozy, elegant and yet very glamorous: the Blue Bar of the Berkeley Hotel is the perfect spot for a classy date.

The design and colour scheme blend old and new touches into a seductive space: think old listed architectural features from the original Berkeley mixed with modern elements such as the white onyx bar.

With such striking decor, one may be tempted to assume the Blue Bar is all about visual appeal. But fear not, this gem is not just easy on the eyes. Your taste buds are also certainly in for a memorable experience.

Get ready for a colour-coded drinks list based on style and strength. Choices are enticing and, thanks to the clever coding, making a decision is easier than expected. Make your pick between: between green (long & fresh), blue (crisp & clean), yellow (elegant & effervescent) and last, but not least, red (rich & complex).

Great atmosphere and alluring drinks - the Blue Bar will not disappoint.

I was taken here for my birthday and isn’t it a lush little place. Service is very attentive with fairly good knowledge of the menu; and the drinks are flavoursome and presented with interesting modern-art-like touches. The menu is helpfully colour coded and categorised in to flavours to help you decide what cocktail you’d like. They also offer Afternoon Tea and a delicious sounding bar food menu - seafood and salt beef sandwiches. I found the interior a little ostentatious and cluttered so I preferred sitting near the window where the ceiling was higher so I felt less claustrophobic. Bar snacks are automatically supplied and I can see how this place can be a lovely relaxing space for a cheeky little nightcap before bed.

What we had:

  • Angel Scent: Bombay Sapphire, vermouth, violate, pine, versus, elderflower, angelica scent
  • Royal Rain: Bombay Sapphire, sake, mastiha, lemon, pandas leaf, pepper, butterfly pea tea soda

Tip: I always prefer sitting at the bar as it’s part of the experience; however in bigger groups I’d recommend sitting near the window area as the ceiling is higher giving a lighter feel to the space and as a plus, you can watch the world go by.

Good For: intimate drinks, small groups, a little bit fancy, special occasions, date night.

I went here with a few friends to have a drink before we headed onto the hotels restaurant, Koffman's. I had some wine so didn't sample any of the cocktails but they looked pretty amazing as they came out. They also provided us with such an array of bar snacks (parmesan cheese twists, nuts and popcorn) that were replenished so regularly I nearly couldn't squeeze my dinner in (don't worry I managed it.)

The service was efficient and the atmosphere was just the right side of relaxed. The staff are extremely professional and helpful. There was one point where a 'gentleman' had walked into the bar and demanded a table asap despite the fact that there were no tables available. I'm not sure what he expected them to do apart from boot someone else off to make room for him and his wife. It was handled really well and he was placated until they found some space for him. I was pretty impressed.

Overall a great experience - oh and it's worth mentioning that they moved our drinks bill over to Koffmans so we didn't have to pay twice. Excellent service!

The staff is amazing and the venue look stunning post-revamp. It is modern and classic at the same time and every table is private, comfortable and intimate.

Went here for a couple of drinks on a Friday night for a very special occasion with a friend of mine. With no booking we were given the option to sit in both areas of the bar we chose the lighter glassed area over the inner more cosy area (which would be better in winter). Visually this place is stunning. It has been redone so it has accents of red now.

Now the cocktails here are expensive but you paying for an extremely well crafted drink and the fact you get to be in such beautiful calm surroundings. We had two rounds my friend picked both times the toffee and bubbles which was amazing! I have a picture of the drink attached to the review. It is so pretty. I tried the classic B which was indeed delicious and refreshing and the smoke and mirrors which was very nice - a manly cocktail but a lady that enjoys whisky can also very much appreciate.

For 2 of us drinking 2 drinks each choosing possibly the more expensive drinks on the list it cost us just below £50 each once service was included. This place is meant to be an occasional treat not a regular haunt and I love it! :)

One thing to note after the 2 drinks my friend and I both agreed it was enough to make us that good level of tispy so not many of these are required to have the desired effect.
