BYOC Camden

This Camden spot follows on from the original London BYOC, over in Covent Garden. The acronym stands for 'bring your own cocktail', which means that for a set entrance fee (£30) guests can bring their own bottle of booze for the BYOC bartenders to use as a base for some creative concoctions.

They've got a fair few tools in their kitbag, too. They'll jazz up your chosen spirit with handmade syrups, bitters, mixers, herbs, cordials, juices, salts, fruits and whatnot, tailored to the kinds of tipple to which you're partial.

Visits are limited to two hours, and must be booked in advance.

This is a fantastic concept. The place itself is intimate with lovely casino style interiors. You bring your own alcohol and your 'personal' bartender will create whatever cocktails you fancy. Unfortunately on our visit, our bartender was a cover, so id not provide the showmanship we could see the other bartenders were providing which was a shame. However, we could see what fun the other tables were having. Cocktails were good but pace yourself, it's easy to get very very drunk during your 2 hour slot. Worth a visit, but request one of the chattier bartenders.

Two minutes from Mornington Crescent tube is a nondescript black door which takes you down into the basement at BYOC spakeasy. You have to know where you're going to find BYOC, which adds to the intrigue and vibe they are creating. The space is small, with only two main bar areas and space for 50 people max, so the setting is intimate.

The whole concept of BYOC centres on you bringing the spirits and the experts will mix a variety of fabulous cocktails. My friends and I took vodka and white rum, which our barman said were good spirits to bring. Spirits such as dark rum often end making quite similar cocktails, but ours were very varied. We tried sweet, sour and a whole mix of cocktails, all of which were delicious - the barman are certainly expert mixologists. As well as bringing your own spirits you also have to pay a 25pp cover charge, so BYOC isn't a cheap night out, but I'd definitely recommend for an occasion or as a treat!

You will certainly not stumble into BYOC (‘bring your own cocktail’) by chance. Inconspicuously presented as the front entrance to a house, you ring the doorbell and are then invited downstairs into an alluring 1950s speakeasy where master cocktail makers mix the beverages of your choosing.

You bring your own spirits, take a seat at the bar and watch as gin is blended with elderflower, cucumber and rosemary. You can make up your own cocktail or pick a few favourite flavours and let the bartender do the work.

Laid back, tasty and original- BYOC makes for a very enjoyable evening. A word of warning however, given that the evening involves 2 hour pre-booked slots during which you are served 5-6 cocktails and a shot, odds are, at least the last drinks you take in may go to your head.

Rated one of the best bars in the world and I get why! Great cocktails, atmosphere, incredibly cozy and the nicest staff!

My mixologist Henry was great, he was very knowledgable and able to quickly get to know my tastes. Of course one may say that it’s not such a difficult job, given that though I came with a friend, but she left sfhortly… Anyway I am not an easy man to please, but Henry managed to do that. The surroundings were cosy and intimate with gorgeous decor and interesting bits and bobs throughout to have a look at. I also liked the music which was just right. Not overbearing and conveniently soft. Our two hours passed by so quick but I am definitely going to visit BYOC again and again.

I had an amazing time at BYOC celebrating my birthday. Our bartender was lovely and seemed very skilled at making cocktails. We all particularly liked having a go at making our own cocktails! I would definitely go back and have already recommended BYOC to all my friends. The only downside was how quick it went!

Fab time at BYOC - not too crowded. Our host was amazing. Delicious cocktails and we even got to stay 20 mins past our allotted time! Highly recommended.

We got to try a lot of different cocktails which were delicious! Atmosphere was great and it was fun seeing what other people also got.)

I had a belated 30th birthday celebration at BYOC in Camden and it was brilliant!! 6 of us took up seats at the black jack table and drank an array of amazing cocktails. Excellent price, fantastic cocktails and super trendy. Loved it and will certainly be planning a return trip!
