Run by the same management team as the nearby Crown & Sceptre and sharing many elements of the drinks and food selection, the Carpenters nonetheless seems to appeal to a younger, more studenty crowd.

There are fish-finger sandwiches, for a start, from a menu covered in denim; Red Stripe among the draught beers alongside decent ales (including Sharp’s reliable Doom Bar); and quirky decorative touches (such as Erica’s notable cleavage on a dinner plate) around a mock sitting room.

If all this is a little ‘seen it and done it’, then make a beeline for the Belle Bar upstairs or the roof terrace – though come here after any working day and the media crowd will be occupying this entire corner of pavement, busy networking.

Great pub. Two areas downstairs, the back area more spacious. Food is reasonable, good selection and never had a bad meal. If gastro pubs still exist as a term then this fits the category. As another person points out they do more than drinks and food, quizzes too. There's an upstairs which when busy is another option. Tables outside, heaters for the winter. Staff always been friendly and service great.

The Carpenters Arms is that rare pub in London that offers a pub quiz and rarer still, a pub quiz that ends before 8pm! In terms of pricing, you're paying the expected £5+ on average for a pint but the Tuesday night pub quiz coincides with the excellent value £10 burger and pint deal. If you're in central London, the Carpenters Arms is a good choice for a quiet drink away from the main buzz of Oxford Street.

This is a great pub in Fitzrovia just off the sprawl of Tottenham Court Road.

Good selection of Lager and Ale.

Suprisingly the Doom Bar was (still) on tap  given Time Out's review is from 2011.

Food has gone downhill a little (been drinking here since around 2008) but still at reasonable prices and you don't go away feeling dissapointed.

obviously been a while since any one left any feedback. Just started job in area and think this place is fab. Quirky and a bit edgy, I have been for lunch and evening drinks, totally different vibe each time and both have been superb. Great service and equally as good food, they also have an amazing January offer.
