Right outside of Bethnal Green station, Chiringuito has sprung from the museum gardens. you can't tell from walking past but the magic of this bar happens once you climb the stairs at the right of the building. Opening out with views over the surrounding rooftops, you could almost be drinking cocktails in Spain – almost.

The beautifully tiled rooftop serves a collection of Spanish dishes and cocktails. Although just a selection of the menu was served at the opening, the food we received was delicious. The octopus, in particular, was incredible, as was the sea bass and quinoa. If you're looking for date spot in Bethnal Green, this is a great option.

Bethnal Green doesn't get as much praise as it should like it's Shoreditch and Hoxton brethren. Its full of really good bars that no one seems to have heard about, and Chiringuito, a brand new cafe/ restaurant/bar with a rooftop, has just added to Bethnal Green's roster of excellent bars

Literally a second away from Bethnal Green station Chiringuito is the Spanish word (apparently) for a small enterprise, usually, a bar, selling mainly drinks and tapas, and sometimes meals, in a more or less provisional building, often on a beach or loose surface. Naturally, it is all about the Tapas. Mouthwatering Spanish tapas that is as close to authentic as it can possibly get to the Spanish coast with an extensive menu of delicious wine and fruity cocktails to boot. Think Galician-style octopus, ceviche and passionfruit margarita. The patatas bravas is the crunchiest I've ever tried.

It's not the largest bar you'll ever visit, but the rooftop is cosy it's fancy what being overly so and a great place to chill with friends. Worth it.
