Crown & Two Chairmen

Bars and pubs, Pubs Soho
3 Love It
Save it

Although it’s changed a little in recent years, brought up to date after years as an old-school holdout, the darkly handsome Crown & Two Chairmen remains a Soho crowd-pleaser. There’s real ale, plenty of lager and cider on tap, and substantial, high-end pub grub.

Bar stools at the windows allow singletons to entertain themselves with central Soho street life, while a low-lit slouchy area of tattered red leather banquettes and red-beaded lampshades at the back gets the vote of courting couples.

Quirky details – such as a ‘Beer tastes better in a plastic glass’ sign for those wanting to drink outside – add appeal for the chatty, friendly mix of slumming-it business types and self-consciously bohemian media workers who make up most of the pub’s clientele.

A great choice for a (modern) typical pub experience. I always recommend this pub to friends when in London. I have come here on a number of occasions, and have always had a great experience. The pub, for me, has a slightly more modern feel to it then the other pubs around, even their menu sounds posh. The food in general here is really good and reasonably priced with a bunch of veggie options too (even with their sunday roast).

This place is well-known for its Sunday roasts and I would recommend it.  The staff are always very friendly and accommodating.  The drinks are reasonably priced and the bar food is good.  A great option for a lunchtime drink/after work drinks.  The décor is also cute and has an old village pub feel.

For the huge amount of pubs available to socialise in in Soho, the Crown and Two (as my friends call it) really isn't a bad choice. Last time I was in there was on a Friday night, and it was busy without being overwhelming. It has a nice touch of charm to it too, nestling somewhere between the old boozer and the overly trendy. Its been done up, but not too much. There is a very good ale selection of ale going on, something that is becoming quite common in London, I'm glad to say. The drink prices are... well, its Soho... However, there have a jar of ice water and glasses on the bar to help yourself to, which is a plus in my book.

A good choice pre-clubbing or after-working in Soho.
