After finding the DSC (not easy for first-timers), descend the steep stairs and watch your head so you don’t bump it on the incredibly low ceilings. The effort is worth it: DSC may look like just another wood-heavy, dimly atmospheric London ‘speakeasy’, but in quality it’s made-to-measure rather than prêt-à-porter. What marks it out is profound and polished skill behind the bar: we’ve watched a single bartender manage three large orders at once, doing everything in the right order and not wasting a second. The changing cocktail list can sound wacky (Captain Cobbler is dark rum, amontillado sherry, kumquat, ginger and honey marmalade, pink grapefruit and IPA top), but in our experience here wacky always equals wonderful. Ordering off-list is always a safe bet. Gents in suits love it. So do those wearing denim, ink and facial hair. One size definitely fits all here.

I can't believe I didn't know about this place working in this area for so long! Perhaps because it's pretty well hidden. It's an extremely atmospheric speakeasy type of bar, small, but super cosy. The wooden interior makes you feel as if you were under the deck of a ship. The cocktails menu is not very extensive but the drinks are reasonably prices and are delicious. The staff was efficient and helpful.

A great find in Aldgate East! I love the vibe and decor of this speakeasy bar. The bartenders and staff were friendly and lovely, and the service was quick even when there was a large group having their Christmas work drinks. It did get a tad loud with that group there but when they left, it was alright. The cocktail I had had a great blend of sweet and sour, and it was strong! Definitely somewhere I'd come back to again.

Small bar filled with charm and character.

Amazing cocktails at good price served with excellent staff. The perfect place to go for a catchup with a group of friends.

Beware it is just one room, there is a mirror at the back. I wouldnt recommend trying to walk through it.

What. A. Find. En route to the station after dinner and my friend noticed where we were and recommended we go for an explore. After a slightly awkward interaction with the bouncer we descended to this brilliantly lit basement speakeasy. Cocktails are on point and service is impeccable considering the amount of customers to bar staff ratio. Will definitely be going back

One of my favourite speakeasy bars hands down. This gem is cleverly hidden as an old suit company front. When you enter into the basement you're brought into a cave-like cozy brick setting, with dim lighting perfect for a romantic drink date. The cocktails are classic, and most being £8, you can't go wrong with that price! Book a table if you have more than two, there is very limited seating!

This tiny relaxed secret underground cocktail bar is close to Liverpool Street, and as you step down a darkened stair well into an old shut down suit shop and are greeted with a cosy little bar, with couches to cuddle up on and a selection of strong cocktails. It’s not a super fancy bar but it’s in East so wouldn’t really fit in if it was and it’s very casual and perfect for a just drinks first date. If you do get peckish the only food they serve is cheese boards – that’s my kind of place.

Cocktails are about £7.50 each

Simply one of the coolest bars in London. The cocktails are super tasty and perfectly executed for a good price (around £8). The service is excellent and friendly, I just love this place !!

Well hidden gem near Aldgate East station. I absolutely love this place, you will have to try to find the black door and go down the stairs to reach the basement bar. It's a small cosy bar and decor was quirky and tasteful. Cocktails menu wasn't a huge selection but definitely looks interesting. I had the pisco sour which was fantastic. Service was immaculate, staff were friendly. The intimate and quiet setting makes it ideal for a date night. I would definitely be going back again to try the other cocktails!

Discount Suit Company is well hidden.

There is nearly no chance you find it without knowing where it was.

In a corner, just outside of the city of London, go down the narrow stairs behind the black door, push the curtain, and welcome in one of the coolest cocktail bars in East London.

The place is quite small, so better to book if you want to be seated.

The cocktail menu is quite small and you won’t find the big classics on it, however, if you really want to get a classic Martini, they will prepare it for you with pleasure!

This is definitely one of my favourite place for Thursday or Friday after work!

The no brand entrance and subterranean location give it a speakeasy feel and the personal service and knowledge of the staff was an experience in its self. It is a quirky and cosy find, that makes you feel like it's only 'you' that knows about it, whilst your sitting in comfy chairs relaxing. We will definitely return.

Came here on a punt as Nightjar was fully booked. NOT DISAPPOINTED. Delicious cocktails and super friendly staff. I enjoy the limited selection of drinks, it means they focus on quality. They are also honest. My husband asked for a drink without almond syrup and they recommended a different one as "it wouldn't taste right". Awesome prices around £8 a drink.

Quite loud on a Saturday night, but it was amazing place. Would definitely recommend.

A secret speakeasy tucked away behind Spitalfields markets and on the backstreets of Shoreditch, difficult to find for newcomers but totally worth it. An intimate cocktail bar with a totally diverse range of cocktails. Potentially some of the nicest cocktails I have had in London, which is becoming an increasingly difficult feat! Staff are great and can manage the heavy influx of people very well in quite a small area. One of the great features of this bar is being able to order "off the menu" with the mixologist making up new concoctions to suit your taste. There is something for everyone here, in every sense of the word!

I went for drinks/cocktails to start of my evening and all I can say is that I LOVE LOVE LOVE this bar! I had a whisky to start with, overall the taste was great but what I did LOVE was glasses and bottle it was presented in I even took a photo! The cocktails where fab and the reason being lots and lots of alcohol very generous, I love my drinks to be strong so I was more than satisfied! The venue its self is tucked away, I loved the brick walls the country feel along with the low lighting perfect for a date! I will 100% be back again soon! :)

So I finally made it here after living round the corner for a year and a half… and it's great! Clever cocktails, decently priced, friendly atmosphere and a DJ perched at the end of the bar playing soul. It's absolutely tiny but it wasn't too crowded to find a ledge on a Saturday evening. I only had time for a swift one but I'll be back for a leisurely evening.

One of my favourite bars, tucked away on Petticoat Lane so that you'd never see it or find it without THIS REVIEW (just kidding). It's teeny tiny, and always busy in the evenings. It's also outrageously dark inside, like, you can barely see anyone. Perfect for a date or to hang with friends (probably not much good for big groups though). Nice staff, good drinks. Who needs more on this earth than that? I love it here.

Totally love this place! It's a bar nicely tucked away at a clothing shop on the edge of the city where you can see the Gherkin building around the corner. Once you find it and make it down the dark steep stairs, it is like walking into someone's basement party. There is music played from where the DJ sits in a corner at the bar. What I love about this place is that people who work here actually look like they enjoy being there. The simple cocktail list has enough variety for something to suit everyone's taste. On a Sat evening, there seems to a lot of locals on a night out or quick drinks before partying. The only thing I would watch is the ceiling height if you were a tall person.

Love this place!  If you can get one of the sofas in the corner it is a perfect place to people watch, have some cocktails and start your evening off right!
