Four Sisters
Venue says Wind down your weekday workday with us. Daily happy hour of two cocktails for £10 until 7pm, Monday to Saturday.

A short stroll off the main Upper Street drag, this high-ceilinged Canonbury bar is bright and airy yet cosy and discreet – perfect for an illicit afternoon sesh. This quartet of siblings take their cocktails very seriously indeed, and it shows; you’ve probably necked a negroni or two in your time, but have you ever tried a six-week-barrel-aged negroni? It’s dark, sweet and intoxicating on many levels. The popular elderflower julep is an altogether lighter proposition, with a subtle hint of apple, and is emblematic of Four Sisters’ rigorous approach to ingredients; the gin hails from the nearby East London Liquor Co, and the syrups (lavender, passion fruit, cranberry) are made in-house. This kind of quality doesn’t come cheap, so if you’re sceptical swing by during happy hour, perch up on a barstool with a partner-in-crime and grab two works of expertly made enliveners for a mere tenner.

Four Sisters says
Number 25 Canonbury Lane has been home to a public house of one sort or another since the 1930s. Retaining all of its historic charm and even the original ‘The Four Sisters’ moniker, the bar is back to its epicurean best.

Darkly Dickensian and full of cosy corners, The Four Sisters is an intimate cocktail bar just moments from Islington’s Upper Street.

With a stylish signature drinks menu, the bar specialises in a range of house-infused spirits, homemade syrups, purées, shrubs, tinctures and barrel-aged cocktails. Our mantra is one of creativity and personalisation where a drink will be tailored to the personality in front of us, with our bartenders aiming to create something unique for each one.

Surprisingly Four Sisters was empty when we popped in for a pre-meal. They have a good selection of cocktails and are priced fairly reasonably (London standard!).

The bar staff are friendly and do take pride in their art as I almost had to wait 10 minutes for the bar tender to make my 2 drinks!

Had an amazing birthday night at The Four Sisters. Great cocktails, lovely atmosphere! Stylish presentation and friendly staff!

There was no need to book a table at the Four Sisters on a Tuesday evening in January. Like most London watering holes, it was suffering from the effects of Dry January. The Dryathletes' loss was our gain, as we enjoyed the relative calm of this quirky little bar. With a mixture of comfy benches and stools, alongside a substantial bar to help prop you up, the Four Sisters is a pleasant place to while away a few hours. Selected cocktails are on 2 for £20 in the 5-7pm Happy Hour, and the creations both look pretty and taste nice - although it was questionable whether my allegedly whiskey-based first drink actually contained any alcohol. Despite this slight hiccup, the experience was very enjoyable, and with full prices starting at ~£8, the whole experience doesn't feel too extortionate. A very pleasant option on Upper Street.

I love this bar. I went to the new one in St Paul's recently (Four Sisters Townhouse) and had an awesome time, and returned to this one again a few weeks ago on a date. It's a pretty perfect date venue, especially if you're able to sneak into the back room and commandeer the big comfy leather sofa. It's quiet and relaxed, with good cocktails and even semi-table service which is a bit weird - order at the bar and they'll bring your drinks to you. It's a nice touch, but sort of unnecessary, especially when you're just ordering wine, but i'm not actually complaining!

This bar is the only one like it in the area - original cocktails, chilled atmosphere, nice decor. I have been here a few times with my boyfriend and a friend for a catch up - somewhere you can go for a great drink and hear yourself speak! Nice area at the back with skylight and comfy couches for larger groups xx

Four Sisters provides something new for Islington - a cosy cocktail bar with both great drinks and a great, buzzing atmosphere. The menu is innovative and varied and the staff are always friendly and accommodating - the perfect date spot or place to meet friends for a drink or two. Highly recommend - has become my new local!

Four Sisters is a hidden gem, it never seems to come up in cocktail bar lists, yet it's one of my faves in London. Stepping through the door is like stepping into a 1920s speakeasy. The staff are incredibly welcoming and despite the small size there always seems to be enough space that you don't feel crammed in. Lined up behind the bar are intriguing looking concoctions of infused gin etc homemade by the team each in pharmacy style bottles with brown tags on that make you think you've stepped into a Victorian laboratory. A friend recently rented the back room for a private party and we were really well looked after, and had a great night. The cocktails are reasonably priced and offer a eclectic selection that all taste and look amazing. Well worth a visit.

I've been several times inc London Cocktail Week and never been disappointed! Though it starts quiet/roomy, it gets really busy - quality is a draw!!

Service is great and the drinks fun & tasty.......even better they're willing to go off-piste creating something bespoke or tweaked (Auchentoshan Three Wood old fashioned ;p )!!

Music can be a but loud but mostly it's the noise of the other punters in a small place.

After a trip to not-so-far Sadler's Wells my friends and I wanted a place to grab a decent drink but actually chill and talk. Not that easy in Angel on a Friday eve, where most bars are packed with people wall to wall.

The Four Sisters fulfilled our requirements perfectly. Delicious, quality cocktails (mine was a gin and lychee concoction), good crisps (I know, that's not a very classy combo is it, but we were peckish) and a lovely vibe.

My only comment was that the music was a touch too loud to talk and clashed a little with the atmosphere, I guess for a bar that has a classy, almost vintage feel, I would have expected the music to be a little more in keeping with this.

Lovely, friendly bar staff and most definitely will be visiting again.

Booked a table for my birthday and had an amazing night! Staff was very friendly and helpful when making the booking and during the night, the cocktails are super delicious and the atmosphere is great. Definitely will be back for more soon!

Great place! Elderflower julep is beaut - candles, good music not too loud, lovely atmosphere. Never too busy! Great shout.

I booked an area for my birthday drinks and we had an amazing time. Great atmosphere and even better cocktails, and no hassle whatsoever with making the booking. I will be back!

We hired out the bar for our Christmas party in early December and I've had non stop praise that it was the best one yet. I do not doubt that a lot of that was down to a great venue, excellent cocktails and extremely hard working bartenders who despite being hammered at the bar, were thoroughly charming throughout the evening. The manager, Simon, was so helpful and on hand to answer all my silly questions, so there were no issues on the night. Would definitely recommend for a private party or even a few drinks with mates. We'll be back for sure!

My friend and I recently hired out the whole place for a joint birthday party. There was no cover charge except a not too terrifying minimum bar spend. Anyway, it worked out as an excellent call. The manager was a star at answering all our questions ahead of the night and letting us order in pizza from another place and play our own music. The other staff were super lovely on the night too. The drinks are good and the size is perfect for a private party. Would definitely come here again myself and recommend it to others for party hire.

Went to a colleagues leaving party here after work last week, he had reserved the small room at the back. I enjoy cocktails a lot and am pleased to say that I can add this place to my relatively short list of bars that can mix a good drink and are also a pleasant place to be! 10 meters on foot from upper street but a whole world away from the normal high street dirge - Highly recommended

A really sweet place, I really had a good experience. Cocktails are amazing and the atmosphere is really nice. Really entertaining watching the bartenders making drinks. Highly recommended since when they re opened few months ago.

I walk past The Four Sisters a lot and as they have been closed for the last few weeks for refurbishment i was keen to see what the new owners (according to the sign in the window) had done to the place. In reality the interior of the bar hasn't changed dramatically, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It looks like they have given it a lick of paint and bought some new furniture but overall i like it. It was clean and warm with lots of candle light and it felt like a nice place to be. In terms of the drinks i was really pleased! I am happy to drink cocktails and they have an amazing lists of around 40 classics, champagne and signature cocktails on big black boards above the bar. I had an Old Fashioned and a Singapore Sling - Not very adventurous on my part i know but they were done very well. My two colleagues however were more than happy to see bottles of ale in the fridge and some decent beer on tap, so all in all everyone was well catered for. Well done The Four Sisters, we shall see you again!

Lovely and quaint place. The staff were lovely and attentive, they knew exactly what they were doing, even when I asked for 'something nice and bitter', the guy just rustle up a lemon and cucumber martini for me. After that I had the best cocktail I have personally ever had, the Four Sisters Breakfast Martini, great if you like grapefruit. It was fresh, you could taste the alcohol (which is why I carried on drinking regardless and became quite pickled. My friends had cassa del passa which itself was a fantastic cocktail. Only critisim is they didn't have bar snack when we went, but other than that. A great find and the cocktails were reasonable. For example you can get an awful cocktail at other bars (I won't name) in islington for the same price as a great cocktail here! A no brainier!!
