Our tour was led by a lady who had been working at Fuller’s Brewery for over forty years and although she had a lot of knowledge of the brewery she wasn’t the most engaging tour guide. The tour had about 15 people on it and the weekend tours especially book up weeks in advance. We hadn’t realized that the Piccadilly Line didn’t stop at Turnham Green (the closest station to the brewery) during the day so we were pressed for time getting to the tour before it started. The tour started with a short intro video in the cellars and then we were shown an impressive 201 year old wisteria growing on the brewery which blooms in May. We got to see inside the workings of the Victorian brewery and then went into the modern sections and then the warehouse where kegs and barrels are processed. There are lots of catwalks to walk along to see the various sections and unfortunately on a Saturday nothing was in operation. At the end of the tour we went into the museum and bar where you could try as many of the beers as you liked. They also had cider and soft drinks to offer and the museum was interesting to browse while trying out a few beers. There was a shop selling everything that Fuller’s produces but our tour ended after the shop closed at 15:00 on Saturday so in hindsight we should have gone in beforehand.
