Jack's Bar

Time Out says

A Southwark pub with an Irish twist, Jack's Bar established by the McElhinney brothers in honour of their father's pub of the same name in Ireland. Since it's tucked behind Southwark station, expect the inevitable commuter crowd tucking into craft beers and pizzas, as well as hot dogs and pulled beef sandwiches.

Been there about three times as a eat-in lunchtime customer. Food is good and atmosphere is generally good. Service had been a bit slow but the last time was pretty bad. Went as a pre-booked party of around 10 and 45 mins after placing the order, asked where the food was and we were told it's 'in the lift'. 15 minutes later, we asked again and they said they went to check but heard nothing for 10 mins so decided to leave. Told one of the usual waitresses (Emilina or Emerilina or something) who was extremely rude and said we were told it would be a long wait (not true) and after I pointed out tables who had come after us and had been served, she refused to acknowledge and said that everyone had been there before us (i.e. more than 1 and 1/4 hours, yeah right) but we should just leave or whatever we wanted to do. One of her colleagues was very apologetic but admitted that we should have been served or told that there was an issue. Bad experience.

A wonderful, cosy space with all the atmosphere of a private area, lush greenery and great music. There're some great beer options here and cocktails that aren't too expensive, plus the bartenders are pretty nice and well-mannered. It's also located in an area that just slightly out of the way (behind the Cut) that makes it quiet enough to feel exclusive while also remaining accessible. One of those rare bars that is unpretentious but pleasant, great for a post-work hangout too!

Good music, young crowd, most happening place on a Thursday/Friday night in the area.

Love this bar.
Great decor, good beer choices, tasty cocktails, fantastic pizzas and DJ's playing some funky music...whats not to love! They even have a ping pong table

Quirky bar with a chilled out vibe. Great for after work drinks or a pizza and a pint for lunch!

Fantastic pizzas, my favourite is the American Hot! And 2 4 1 cocktails on Mondays and Saturdays - I am there almost every single weekend

Just a crest local craft beer and cocktail bar. Also. I love table tennis which they have and the staff always recognise and greet me like a local when I go there.

This bar is banging! Go on Thursday-Saturday for some great tunes and funky jiving until midnight. If you’re after a laid back vibe mosey on in earlier in the week for something more relaxed. I’m a sucker for pizza and theirs do not disappoint. They’ve always got a few interesting beers on as well as the classics everybody seems to know and love. Seriously check it out, you won’t regret it.

Organised a private party here a couple of months ago and the staff were professional and helpful, went above and beyond for me and my guests. We had some pizza and a few of the tasty Big Apple Hot dogs to eat; the atmosphere and the whole place is just really welcoming and have returned many times since!
