Time Out says
A bar below Peruvian restaurant Lima Floral in Covent Garden.
It feels like a South American holiday beneath Peruvian restaurant Lima Floral in Covent Garden – colourful and vibey, with loud music, shouty bartenders and tropical cocktails. It’s small but would suit a group looking for somewhere to have a snack (try the crispy fried chicken with its addictive potato-and-lemongrass dip) and a round of drinks with a difference.
The bar has changed direction: before (when it was called Bajo) it was purely pisco-focused; now, the drinks list features lots of things that are vaguely Latin American. Pisco is still there but also think mezcal, Caribbean rum and Brazilian beer. Some cocktails we tried – like the Cuento del Diablo with chilli-infused pisco, strawberries and lime (a lovely hit of heat offset by fruity sweetness) – were fun and creative. Others were not so well executed. The jet-black Macario with charcoal, pineapple juice, sugar syrup, whisky and tequila tasted mostly of lemon juice (despite that exotic-sounding ingredients list) and its foam was bubbly, as if it hadn’t been strained properly. Simple drinks, though, like pisco sours and glasses of Peruvian wine, were great.
So it may not al-pack-a punch, but if you’re hanging out in Covent Garden with your crew or you’re on the hunt for a dark booth to have one more drink after dinner, this bar is a decent find.
