Where residential London meets industrial in North Greenwich sits a giant grey structure that is the Meantime Brewery. Named after Greenwich's most famous feature (time itself), this brewery is the largest to open in the capital since the 1930s.

Every weeknight and weekend members of the public can venture inside on various behind-the-scenes tours with tutored tastings. Visitors can hop on the classic tour, or arrange a bespoke private tour (groups of 10-28).

You can also sign up for beer appreciation workshops (£90) at the brewery, which you can take over the course of a day or a few evenings.

This was my first ever brewery tour and I was really excited to go, especially with a large group of friends who had booked out most of the tour.  The first part was hosted around the brewery itself where you learn a bit about the actual brewing process, unfortunately on this Occassion they were cleaning everything and there was no actual brewing taking place.  It was still extremely noisy in the brewery so if you go make sure you get a spot at the front as I did not hear most of the tour!

While you do no actual drinking when walking around, you are moved into a bar room with a host and given 6 small drinks to taste the different beers and ales they produce at the meantime brewery.  Our host was hilarious and made the whole afternoon really enjoyable but also informative.  You also get to pour your own pint which was more difficult for some than others.

Overall, for £20 it is well worth the money. I would highly recommend this to anyone, however ensure you give yourself a lot of time to get there as it is not that close to Greenwich itself.

A fabulous tour, hosted by the incredibly wonderful host, Big Al. A funnier man in London you will not meet. Genuinely, he made the tour what it was. With a more dull host, I don't think the tour would be particularly memorable, although still not bad value at £20 per person. You get to try 4 of Meantime Brewery's best lagers, ales and reds, and are guided through the flavours by your aforementioned tour guide. Big Al actually discusses in detail the food choices which would go well with each beer, and is clearly a bit of a foodie, which even adds to the experience. You are then guided on a short walking tour through the brewery itself, with the whole tour lasting roughly 2 hours. Definitely worth a visit, even if it is a little off the beaten track in North Greenwich.

An excellent tour, with a highly entertaining and knowledgeable tour guide. I took my Dad for his Birthday and it was a great present, you get lots of beer to drink! We went on the pie and pint tour for £30 per head and the food was lovely too, very filling! I would recommended this tour, I think it would be especially good for stag groups and it's a great gift idea.
