Time Out says

A number of elements lift the Nightingale from its apparent status as just another Young’s pub. Built in 1853 by Thomas Wallis, this cosy community local offers a fireplace and blankets in winter, and a back beer garden in summer, reached through a conservatory decorated with museum artefacts depicting the history of the brewery.

This vintage feel is continued with displays of Wills’s cigarette cards in the main bar, where you can pick up souvenir postcards or badges of the pub. Board games include Scrabble and Taboo, and there’s a popular alfresco darts set-up in the beer garden. The standard Young’s ale range is complemented by 15 wines.
