Off the Cuff Bar

Bars and pubs Herne Hill
5 out of 5 stars
(15user reviews)

Live bands of all kinds and DJs play regularly at this characterful joint. Located in a Herne Hill railway arch, Off The Cuff is all about supplying good-time party vibes in a setting that hints at post-war with bare brickwork, a corrugated ceiling and mismatched furniture.

Venue is simply the essence of underground up and coming music. The staff and management really help shape this place into one of London best venues for artists, musicians and all those with an appreciation of good quality vibes...

Such a cosy, intimate venue for listening to music.  Up close and personal with the bands, but also a second room for relaxing, talking, buying drinks etc.  Could easily see myself heading down here more often to discover up and coming artists, especially as tickets aren't that expensive!

Always fuming with music, fun, social activity and good range of beverages/drinks

This music venue is exciting, speaking to the owner & hearing his vision to help up and coming artists. they give all the door money back to the bands, meet & greet all musicians to make them feel comftable. Some times live music in both rooms at the same time, the combined 2nd arch, room 2 (nicknamed The Wood Shack) There 2nd music room with 20ft stage with 250 capacity, is a throw back from 60s,70s. With an underground buzz of famous musicians playing there & hanging out there. This is refreshing for live music in london! Iv heard there being called the Cavern Club of london

I'm not surprised. I'm touting this to be one of the top music venues in the capital.

Consistently good  bands and singers.  Often free as well. The people running it care a lot about what they do. And a nice break from chain venues.

You'll never visit a bar that run and managed with this level of passion, love, time, enthusiasm and hard work.

A true gem in Herne Hill. OTC bar has a relaxed creative feeling which is rare in London....the fact that it's run by a Geordie likely helps!

Cool vibe and pleasant surroundings - I enjoy playing there! Michael J Howard, Bass Guitarist, Vibes Plus.

Always welcomed with smiling faces... To a quick drink passing by, a night of extremely well selected musicians, music festivals and just wonderful gatherings with friends you know and love! I may live in Streatham but I consider it my local... Thanks to you one and all

A quirky venue, with friendly staff, lively clientele, plus regular live music events ensures this new kid on the block remains a go-to hub for locals and "in-the-know" Londoners at large.

Herne Hill is pretty, not my usual cup of tea, maybe a little upscale for me. It doesn’t take much I know. But Off the Cuff is literally on the left of the station. I would not call it a pub, not even a bar- a room which happens to have a bar on the side. Located right under the train tracks of the station I walk in and I am immediately blinded by the projector they have up of flashing photos. A ferocious band play just loud enough so my ears won’t drop off and a arcade game. It’s a small place, quite narrow and I cannot for the life of me see the toilets. I get a drink and stand near the back taking in the smell of spilt Jack Daniels and teen spirit. The bar staff are awfully chirpy for a Thursday night and really encourage me to go forward and listen to the band. There are sofas and a couple of tables and chairs, all within close proximity. The toilets I soon find out are located behind the projector but feel rude if I just walk in front of the band and go to the loo. There are much nicer bars in Herne Hill but there isn’t one with such character, to the extent that you could easily miss it. A relaxed atmosphere with no airs or graces, it’s straight the point of what it is and unapologetic.
