Oskar's Bar (CLOSED)
Time Out says
Friendly warning! We're working hard to be accurate. But these are unusual times, so please check that venues remain open.
Please note, Oskar's Bar is now closed. Time Out London Food & Drink Editors, Aug 2017.
If you love to adulterate the sophistication of cocktail hour with a cringeworthy pun, Oskar’s is the place for you. How about a ‘Rye, Rye, Rye Delilah’, with White Rhino Alpine rye, wine, pine and lemon? Or the frankly unconscionable ‘Statutory Grape’: cachaça, lovage, lime and condensed milk? As you can see, linguistic egregiousness aside, there is some impressive inventiveness and technical skill at work here. Try the beer- and cider-based drinks, in frosted, dimpled mugs. A ‘Burt Reynolds’ has a warming punch of Johnnie Walker black and bitters cut with Wyld Wood cider, while the ‘Drink with No Name’ is the perfect autumn warmer, with ginger ale and apple-and-greengage liqueur lengthening a bourbon base. The dim industrial space beneath Dabbous perhaps isn’t the most intimate: there aren’t many corners to get all romantic, but we’re all about the drinking: you can neck anywhere.
