During the day, this sprawling boozer is always a buzzing reflection of the area's park life, with visitors to the verdant space marking this as a pit stop or an end goal. You'll find plenty of dog walkers here with their pups, settling in for a warming-up by the fire or for an afternoon of sport on big screens. By night it makes its own fun with quizzes, discos and comedy nights. But the main draw is the sprawling beer garden, with pretty bunting and a constant summertime crowd enjoying pub grub and pints. The burgers are the pick of the menu, and offer far better value than the main selection of larger plates.

As for booze, the pub houses its own microbrewery, as well as a strong line-up of gins. Staff are friendly and offer good, natural patter, even when the pub is at its busiest, and the regulars seem pleased to chat. So stay awhile at the People’s Park Tavern and you’re sure to make a friend – even if it’s only a muddy cocker spaniel.

After moving to Hackney a year ago, this pub has quickly become my local (& favourite pub in London!!)
Inside seems like a normal pub but walk outside in to the garden and there is a huge marquee in winter with booths and heaters and in summer it transforms to a huuuuge pub garden full of benches, pop up bars and food and also has a crazy golf course which backs on to Victoria Park. Beware that you can never seem to stay for just one drink...

Last night we went to the halloween party at the People's Park Tavern, which was an awesome night. The day of the dead themed evening hosted two dancing skulls with maracas which set the tone for the evening. The outside space is big with heated booths meaning even at the end of October we were able to sit outside. As the garden closed at 11pm the dance floor filled and the DJ continued to play tune after tune for the whole evening. There is also a mini golf course at the back of the garden which we didn't try but will definitely be returning to give a go. All in all a great pub, with a vast array of ales, enormous garden and friendly staff.

Great vibes at night and a whopper beer garden. Perfect for big groups and parties! Also the Drinki app works here which is a winner! Bit of an end destination but nothing wrong with that with great tunes till late.

In the Summer, it is the perfect place for a get-together, considering the outside area is huge and nicely decorated with fairy lights and colourful signs. But that is the only good thing about this pub, which unfortunately closes at 10pm. The wait at the bar is very frustrating. On a Saturday night, I managed to get two drinks in 4 hours, and staff doesn't really seem to care.  That night, the "DJ" was playing all the good tunes, but more as a playlist that really DJing....I will not give up though, and go back to check it out on a week day after work, and maybe try the food.

People's park tavern This place has an enormous beer garden perfect for large groups on sunny days. The food set up is great, order and wait back at your table with a buzzer for when it's ready. The bar however on a sunny day is packed and takes an extremely long time to get served so some of us just gave up drinking for a couple of hours! At the back of the huge beer garden is a crazy/mini golf course which is great, really well thought out with 9 holes - lots of fun, £6pp and maximum of 6 in a team. As much as the venue is great and lots of fun, the length of time it took to get served at the bar, plus the constant long queue for the ladies toilet is a real turn off. At 10pm ish the staff start moving everyone inside which is tiny in comparison so that's always a good time to leave or move on!

When I walked in the door of this unassuming boozer for 'one drink' for a friend's birthday last Saturday, it took me about 20 seconds to realise it wouldn't be just one drink. The bar itself is relatively large but it's the outside area that wows. It boasts probably the largest pub garden I've ever seen (probably in the world, to be honest) and it backs right onto Victoria Park. I was there on a cloudy-sunny-cloudy-rainy-sunny again kind of day and it didn't thwart any enthusiasm for the outdoor area.

Who was there? A ton of unpretentious people just having a good time. No mega hipsters in sight, good music, quick service at the bar, and decent burgers from a food stand in the garden. I stayed until kick out time at 2am dancing to the 70s funk tunes blasted out by the DJ.

Would love to return. Only downside and loss of a star for it - the ladies toilets were grim and there weren't enough of them for the hundreds of people in the place so queues were long.

What a great find in East London – lovely pub  and brewery with very large outdoor beer garden on the East side of  Victoria Park.

Serves traditional pub food and a Sunday roast. DJs play at the weekend and it is open until 1am on Fridays and 2am on Saturdays (free entry).

In the back garden is the People’s Cocktail Bar and Art Gallery which is open Thursday – Sunday. You can check out some art work and play board games! They also have miniature crazy golf at the front of the pub – £7 adults, £3.50 children.

This is the sort of pub you dream of being your local. It's huge with a great outdoor space complete with mini little cabins. The sunday roasts are great big sharing things - and while the lamb we had was a little fatty, the huge yorkshire puddings made up for it.

There's great drinks selections, and the staff were super helpful.

Had a great time. Food was amazing and the staff were very attentive to our group!!

Best pub in hackney
Should try chicken breast burger with summer garden ale 5*

Staff a friendly and it has the best beer garden in London...........and it's in a best Park!!......shhhhhh we really don't want too many to know! 😆

Amazing atmosphere, food, booze, games, and the rest.
It's what an entertainment venue for adults should be like.
Wholesome goodness.

The best beer garden in London...and possibly in the UK. An on-site micro-brewery, delicious wine too (unusual for a pub) and a great atmosphere. Plus brilliant food. You can't beat that for a local Hackney pub.

I can’t believe I discovered this only now!

Situated next to Vicky park, there is no wonder this a popular place. It boats with spacious beer garden that was very lively and busy on warm summer’s Friday evening. The atmosphere is cool, outside there is quite a handy food stall where they offer burgers and similar bites that go well with beer, other pub food looks delicious as well. Pub has its own brewery and offers a good variety of beers. Inside you can find a photo booth, so make some photographic memories of fun evening!

Really popular pub by Victoria Park. Dog and children friendly.

The garden is really nice and often has a live band. There is a good crazy golf (£5 each) table football and loads of things inside.

The beers were all pretty much pale ales. We didn't eat but the food looked nice.

My only complaint was the state of the toilets on a busy Saturday afternoon.

It's a rare thing to find people who work in pubs who genuinely care about your experience in their establishment. After an walk in Victoria Park I was gasping for a cold one. Fortunately the pub might as well be slap bang in the middle of the park. Not only do they have their own micro brewery, they have a tap room that is home to over 50 different kinds of beer. Downstairs has a diverse mix of people with a inviting atmosphere that is warm and unlike most places in East London unpretentious.

Signs to the Tap Room could be more helpful but once I go up the stairs you're welcomed by Nintendo 64, Billards and four fridges of beer that would bring a grown man to his knees. The friendly bar staff know their stuff when it comes to the vast selection. Give them (mainly one really excitable Italian, she is amazing) just a small idea of what you want from your beer and she will give you some great ideas.

The selection of food is the right amount to get the juices flowing, although be warned the chicken and waffle burger is not for the faint hearted. I thought I was strong. I was wrong, I didn't finish it. Sad face.

The music on a Saturday night is really cool and the place is buzzing, upstairs and downstairs. If it wasn't so far away from me, it would be my regular hang out. Although I would be happy to bring my laptop and do some work in the tap room early on in the day, as I did see some people were doing that, that and the fact that Saturdays are 'Bring Your Own Vinyl' makes it pretty damn cool.

The best beer garden in the world. Tasty range of ales brewed on site. Awesome.

Awesome staff. Awesome beer. Awesome garden. Awesome food. Go there immediately.

Love this place!  Plenty to do in both summer and winter, food is great and the staff are friendly.  It even had a brewery on site which is amazing! (Plus they back it up with cracking beers!)

Fantastic pub that offers it all - an amazing outdoor area, their own microbrewery, informed friendly staff and a cute pub dog.

Has a lovely big garden overlooking the park which is always rammed in summer, but the interior is nice as well and the food is good.

Come for the garden, stay for the beer food. The People's Park Tavern is well known for having  one of the best beer gardens in London, but the reason I go is for their own beer, which is excellent, and brewed on site. The brewer is often there and really friendly. I've eaten there a few times and each time the food has been really good. It can get busy on really sunny days, but there's always lots of staff on, who are working hard to get everyone served. There a real party vibe late on the weekend night, if that's your thing.

Sunday roast was ridiculously overpriced and not at all worth it.  The beef was very fatty and the bowl it was served in made it hard to cut. There was no white meat option for one person on the menu and overall was a very disappointing experience. Also, glasses were dirty.

Came here in summer for the garden and was blown away. Great in the sunshine (it's big

and just the right amount of shade) but at night it's beautiful, lit up with little lights. I then went back last week (which is mid winter) and it's a great, warm winter pub too. We sat right by the brewery (their own ales are really good actually) which set a really nice tone. Then a friend went out for a fag and said there was a fire pit thing and the garden was covered. We got our coats and sat out there. Haven't eaten, but the food coming out looked great. Will definitely make the effort to come back, not just in summer.

Rude and aggressive staff. Cold food. Do yourself a favour and try one of the many other local pubs. They couldn't be any worse than this!

We waited more than one hour and a half for an overpriced chicken that never arrived, so we finally ended getting our money back and a few chips for our two children who were literally starving. Of course, they didn't offer voluntarily the chips, we had to beg for them! The garden is beautiful and nice, but the terrible and awful service makes it one of the worst places I've ever been in London. Never again.

Every time I've been to this pub we've enjoyed great food - including excellent vege options (once they had vege hot dogs, which were fun!) The beer garden is fantastic and they have a lot of space indoors as well. Highly recommended.

I'm surprised to read so many bad reviews. My boyfriend and I went here for sausage & mash just before Xmas they do an offer of 2 for £9.95 (I think it's every Thursday) the food was good, bacon and maple sausages were really tasty and overall service was good and staff friendly. Seems like a wicked place in the summer too!

Rude service at the bar - which takes for ever. One nice guy works there and thats it. Food is pretty much awful. I like the garden if I am with the dog and kids have enough space to run around - the only reason I dont give this one star. Sometimes serve some decent local beers .

very poor. the place was empty, yet food took an hour to arrive. Burger was dry, bun was stale, and the chips were rock hard. wont be returning

OK not the best Sunday roast in the world but great to have a place where I can take dog and kids after walk in the park and dont get the skunk eye from the staff. Good local ales - kept pretty well too

Its a lovely pub, and I always enjoy a drink there. But I've tried to eat there three times, each worse than the previous one. The last time I was there the food was so poor the manager just handed back our money and apologised. A shame.
