Whichever genius decided to convert a scruffy store halfway down a traditional London marketplace into a tiki dive bar deserves a medal. It’s resolutely egalitarian (no reservations, no guestlist: just show up and get merry), the decor is almost laughably DIY, the hooch is cheap (three quid for a can of Red Stripe is not to be sniffed at in this part of town) and the tunes – reggae, motown and party pop – keep the joint solidly jumping until 2am at the weekend. There’s a surprisingly respectable cocktail menu too, all for a fiver, served informally in plastic tumblers. The ginger mojito brings welcome warmth to that minty old stalwart, the piña colada goes down a treat amid the cheesy beach bar vibes, and the original creation Kamm Kardashian is as irresistibly kitsch as its big-arsed namesake.

We went here as part of a bar crawl through Dalston, and we all enjoyed it so much we stayed for a lot longer than we should have! I did book a table for 8pm for 10 people, and when booking they advised that whilst there wouldn't be seating for all 10 of us it would be a good spot to gather, and they were spot on!

Pizza's from the slice girls are a fiver, and all the pizzas are named after spice girls tunes (think 2 become 1 when you want a half and half, what a chuckle).

Now for the cocktails... I had heard before arriving that their Ginger Mojito's are rated one of London's top 10 cocktails. That is a huge statement, so I had set the bar quite high and I was not disappointed. I am not normally a big mojito fan but boy oh boy did this win me over, and all for a fiver as well! I was convincing members of my pub crawl left right and centre to give it a go and I never had a bad word against it. Similarly to reviews below, we never had to wait long for a drink or food and service was always speedy and friendly.

As we were on a crawl we didn't get to hang around for the dance floor part of the evening (never fear, I will be back) but when we passed back on our way back to the main road we noticed quite the queue out the front, so get there early :)

A wonderful night out, I can't wait to go back and slurp up more Ginger Mojito's and £5 pizzas and hit up the D Floor!

Looking for something fun and affordable? then get yourself down to Ridley Road Market Bar.This quirky bar has a warm atmosphere as it is surrounded by fairy lights and full of young people who are up for a good time.

Serving cocktails for just £5 and with free entry this bar is ideal if you're a student or just trying to go out on a budget. My personal favorite cocktail was the ginger beer mojito which was reminiscent of summer and very easy to drink (perhaps too easy). The bar staff were kind and quick and I never waited longer than ten minutes for a drink which considering that they were making cocktails seemed very fast.

Furthermore my favorite element of this bar was the music. They played old school RnB and Hip Hop which is my favorite genre so it was great to dance the night away, cocktail in hand. If like me you are a fan of J. Lo, Sean Paul and Ashanti then you will have a great time here.My one complaint was that towards the end of the night the music turned a bit more techno which for me was a downer, however its all personal preference so if you like techno you'll still have a great time.

So if you're looking for a cool quirky bar based in the Dalston area then Ridley Road Market Bar should be at the top of your list. It's fun, affordable and offers both an upbeat and chilled night depending on what you fancy.

Perhaps one of the coolest little bars in and around town.  Don’t be put off by what is essentially a small looking shack, there’s a bustling throng of people mid-vibe beyond the dishevelled exterior.  You would be right to be sceptical at first but it’s actually a lot of fun if you embrace the sweaty dance floor and bring your bladder control A game.

For maximum enjoyment - put on a paisley shirt, grab a Red Stripe, and let your inner Bez out.

If cheap (but not the best) cocktails, can of redstipe, fun ramshackle decor and bit of a dance with your mates is what you are looking for this is a fun place to go. It can get a bit overcrowded though. I had to queue and everything...

Fun bar with great drinks at great prices! Perfect for a dance on a Friday or Saturday - but does get very busy (expect queues at peak times) and could do with a few more toilets (very long queue times!)

My favourite local bar. No where else in Dalston (/London!) can you get a decent cocktail for £5. The ginger Mojito is a delight. On the week you can drop by and get a carafe of wine and 2 small pizzas freshly made for a £15 bargain and at weekends it turns into a really fun little club. get there before 10pm to avoid queuing, but if you do get stuck then it's worth the wait! I think my favourite thing is that the crowd are always really decent - unlike some other places in Dalston on a Saturday. Overall, if you're in the area then become a regular...and if your not, then make the journey.

Friendly staff, easy on the pocket cocktails, good vibes and great music.

For goodness sake get a security man with a brain and some manners; refused entry 0n Sunday 25 Aug. for allegedly having been seen in Ridley Road with a blue plastic bag 20 minutes before trying to go inside to join my friends' birthday celebration. Is there a zero star rating?

Amazing stone oven baked Pizza's here, the best pizza i have eaten in London! Music was the best, wanted to get up on the dance floor and dance with my pizza woop! Glad its off the main drag of Kingsland Road too.

I was there one month ago after a bad day at work. Went in with a grumpy face for a quick drink with a friend, and left at 2 am with a big smile. Have been there every single week ever since, and the result is always the same. This bar kicks asses, fills you up with good vibrationz, and is far cheaper than a good psycotherapist, and the resutls are guaranteed. A 'feel good' must in London, with amazing drinks and the loveliest staff.

I have been down to this bar twice so far each time I have had a wonderful time. It is unlike any other bar I have been to in London, with friendly staff, lovely cheap drinks and all in all good vibes. A special mention should be for the music - on both ocassions I have been they have had the 2 moustache clad guys playing the most incredible music...not cheesy at all and not even music I have ever heard but music you just want to dance to! I am looking forward to my next visit to this hidden treasure!!

I went to Citizens! gig last wednesday. Lovely bar, charming staff. Cheap cocktails, refreshing ginger mojito for a fiver, fresh juice in the drinks. Delicious wood-oven pizzas. Loved this place!

I love this bar so much, it fills a much needed gap in Dalston. I particularly like the fresh juice in the drinks and the cute staff and clientèle!

Go here!... with a glorious freshness in your heart, and smile from ear to ear all night at the unbounding innocence and unexpergated happiness of the regulars. Not a place for cynics or posers, despite the wonderfully stylish and turned out folk, who dance with an abandon like they are not being watched, much less care. Homeslice Pizza on Saturdays is a wonderful way to keep your dancing shoes stable for longer throughout the night. The best bar in the area for people who like people. Big up Kezza. x
