Rum Kitchen Notting Hill

There surely can't be a more jolly place to drink in Notting Hill: colourful wooden wall-slats and furniture fill the upstairs bar, and down in the party-time basement there’s good reggae, very friendly staff and rum, rum and more rum. The selection is enormous, and you could spend weeks here without getting through it all. On the cocktail front, there are plenty of big fruity numbers, but the classicism of a perfect daiquiri makes us think this is the way to go. There’s a happy hour from 6pm to 8pm too. If you stay later, you’ll probably find yourself unable to resist the lure of jerk chicken, saltfish fritters or just an enormous bowl of sweet potato fries.

I visited Rum Kitchen last month for the Sunday brunch with 8 other friends at around 11am and  were looking forward to a great experience. But when we arrived, staff could find no record of my friend's.  When we did order our food, we waited nearly 30 minutes for dishes to arrive.  One of my friend’s meals (the Full Jamaican) had half an egg shell in it (!) and the three other Full Jamaican orders were semi-cold, with sausages that were practically burnt.  The staff on the day were very cooperative despite all of this, but we expected our experience to be of a higher standard – and in this case, it just didn’t meet the mark....

I absolutely love rum kitchen.... Its the closest to Caribbean flavours in cuisine in all of london in my opinion. The food is so delicious and well seasoned I have to wonder If I'm still in the U.K and not the sunny beaches of Montingo bay!

The best part is that the food isn't expensive at all! You can get a healthy sized main course for £10 amd the sides are under £5 ..

I had the jerk bowl which entailed jerked chicken thighs (sooooo tender amd yummy) slaw ,rice and peas and watermelon and pineapple for a burst of sweetness... Seriously good stuff and the music they play makes it so hard for one to stay still in their seat.

Yummy food ,yummy cocktails and great atmosphere... I couldn't recommend it enough.

Popped in for a quick dinner before a nearby event. I had the west indian veg curry, which was actually very tasty and satisfying. My friend's burger however was a little disappointing, and the service was just okay. I wouldn't rave about this restaurant, but it's certainly not a bad option, particularly in this area where dinner options are slim pickings.

Delicious Jerk chicken, especially since this is a chain restaurant, was very very good. Cocktails were on for £5 during happy hour, the one with coconut milk was amazing.

Great place the service was very slow and food came really late! It was still fun thou! music is also a bit too loud to have a proper conversation! but overall not too bad!

Flavorful dishes colored with vibrant ingredients that are truly unique. Heavy on the chili decorations but loved the authentic vibe!

Great drinks and friendly bartender. Didn't try the food but the place was very nice.

Having anticipated an authentic Caribbean treat in the Notting Hill area, we were sadly to be disappointed. The restaurant was buzzing with young and trendy clientele, and the decoration promised the full West Indian experience. However, the welcome at the bar fell flat and the rum based cocktails on offer were moderate at best. The Saltfish Fritters and Hot Pepper Poppers as starters were the best thing on this very limited menu. The TRK Jerk chicken bowl was served with slaw that lacked freshness whilst the chicken pieces did not seem fully seasoned. However, the Sweet Potato Fries that were served as sides to the mains were the only saving grace. The chocolate rum pot with nut brittle and berries was standard. The service was speedy and courteous, however, one had nagging doubts about how much money was spent for so little to show for it.

First time at Rum Kitchen after hearing all the hype and coming back after a holiday in the Caribbean, this was just the ticket. We started the meal with some cocktails, thought £8.50-&10 was a little pricey and didn't taste that great. Starters range from £5-6 and were yum, we had the poppers and the quid. Mains were about £8-13, we tried the pull pork burger and wings, I wasn't impressed with either and my pork was cold, so had to be sent back to the kitchen. Service was good. But a meal for two of us cost £70, that's included cocktails and two courses. I was not overly impressed.

A Caribbean beach shack bringing a little bit of my Island to London! If you don’t eat meat, don’t be put off by the jerk themed menu. The vegetarian offerings are plentiful and that’s typical of Caribbean food. Try the Jerk Halloumi burger, Charcoal Roasted Red Pepper, Rainbow Salad or Sweet Potato curry. I’d recommend them all! The sides are pretty pricey at £4 - £5 but the food and atmosphere make up for any shortfall on price. On Wednesdays they do ‘Wings Day’ - unlimited wings for a set price of £19.50 and on Sunday’s a bottomless brunch! That’s next on my to-do list. I recommend Rum Shack for a birthday meal or catch up with friends.

Unlimited spicy wings in the Nottinghill branch on certain days, brilliant cocktails and I love the atmosphere here! There is also a nice branch in Soho with balcony seating and winter fairy lights, located just off carnaby street.

Had heard great reviews, so booked a table of 15 for my birthday on a Saturday night. Got there and the table wasn't ready for 45 minutes after the time we had booked it. Service was awful. Very slow, then they brought the wrong food out and then over charged us. Charged us for drinks we hadn't ordered . Food was nice and great atmosphere! But I would not recommend for a big group and I certainly won't be going back any time soon.

Absolutely loved my visit here, great Caribbean classics on option, Curry Mutton was brilliant and the Jerk Fried Chicken Burger has gone down as one of my top 'burgers'! Great demi brioche bun with a smoky scotch bonnet mayo, starters - sticky ribs and wings and salt fish fritters were also great. Cocktails were spot on, bar man suggested a Hemingway Daiquiri.. A twist on a classic daiquiri - brilliant. Will be back!

Overpriced and mediocre - avoid & go somewhere that West Indians actually eat.
