The Beast of Brixton

Time Out says

This Brixton bar and kitchen champions London's street food scene - each weekend a new enterprise ditches their stall/camper/trailer/'80s Chevy ambuance to set up shop here for a couple of days. Expect, then, plenty of variety - and something different every week.

It's not all about the food though. It's a bit of a party spot too, so cocktails (from Killgrief & Comfort) play an important part. The inventive selection includes frozen margaritas, iced apple warmers, peach jam sours and a Bob's negroni - with the gin replaced by rum and a drop of Mauby syrup. A solid selection of real ale also features.

And for those street food sellers in situ for the weekend? Check the website to see who's up next.

The Beast of Brixton says
There are custom cocktails, our street food-inspired weekend comfort menu and an increasingly famous, mucho-decadent Sunday roast that’ll make your granny weep. All of this set to first-rate music over two floors of bone and gold. Open Thursday, Friday, Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons.

The Beast has been in my hit list for a while as I’d heard it’s amazing reputation for a Sunday roast and couldn’t resist the reviews any longer. Turning up we were greeted by a rather smaller quirky place than anticipated (max 6 tables) but nonetheless got a nice window seat and got straight into the roast ordering. We had booked which I recommend due to the room size. We tried the smoked bloody Mary’s and chicken roast which were divine and really good value. We even got served an aperitif which was a classy touch. The roast is really good value for the size and vegetable selection alone! Would love to try this place out on a Friday/ Saturday night next.

Cute townhouse style cocktail bar about a 10 minute walk from Brixton station. Service is great, drinks are strong and atmosphere is good. It's quite small and cosy so it's a good destination for a casual first date in the area. Worth a visit.

It is not an easy venue to find out. Once you get there, it is a cool place with a very nice atmosphere
