Not really sure how this won in the Leyton and Leytonstone Category its in E18 (Wanstead) - feels a little unfair to the many fine establishments in the actual area - Nothing wrong with the food but its just not Leytonstone

Consistently good food, friendly staff, lovely atmosphere, great outside bit, brilliant mini festival every summer and it's kid friendly. Recently held a post funeral gathering there, an afternoon tea party to celebrate my Granny's life. Sherri managed the whole thing brilliantly which was a feat with so many gluten free and vegetarian attendees.

It's the best pub ever, for nights out family events, everything. They make sure an effort to cater for everyone and they put on brilliant events all year round.

Lovely family friendly and pet friendly Pub with a comfortable layout and modern decor. Good service, good food, and a wide selection of beverages, not to mention the community uplift this pub brings with street party's, seasonal events and much more

its local and since its been taken over has mananged to clean up and make it a place where you would want to pop into , just to relax, meet friends, eat or join in the many themes thoughout the year.

Wonderful feel for events but cool at all times. Excellent choice of wines and beers, great food. Deserve an accolade...

Amazing venue, great atmosphere and food ! highly recommended to go for a drink/meal with friends!

They just seem to get everything right! The beers, the food, the music, the staff. Always on point.

EVERYTHING is home made from the sauces and bread buns, to the desserts! Homemade always tastes better! Service is the cherry on the top!

Family pub which caters for everyone from little dukes and parents to pets and also sponsors local communities an rugby club 5star venue

Awesome local, great food, family friendly and dog friendly. Seasonal menu and delicious Sunday roast

Excellent choice of menu, consistent quality of food. Great ambience, ideal for families and perfect venue for meeting friends

The atmosphere, high quality food and drink. Coolest pub around. It's an extension of my living room.

A seriously good local with a changing menu packed with choice, and always offering a superb steak or two.

Derived from the Anglo-Saxon words “Wænn” and “Stede”, meaning "Settlement on a small hill" Wanstead is the once Royal hunting ground of Henry the VIII, near Epping Forest. A few stops East of Liverpool Street with a village feel, and home to the rejuvenated “The Duke” public house.

With former Soho Farmhouse Head Chef Daniel Merry on board, the right ratio of shabby to chic, this place is a little gem.  Try the aptly named “The Duchess” –Tanqueray 10 Gin,  elderflower tonic, prosecco, mint garnish. This place is a Mecca for any Gin loving ladies. Lads an array of decent casks ales and Hackney Gold on tap, at £3 a pint what more could you want from a Sunday afternoon?! Eat Arancini balls with spicy tomato & pickled vegetables £5.5. The Sirloin of Welsh beef severed medium rare (yep medium rare, thank you very much) with a Yorkshire pudding to satisfy, goose fat potatoes and veg. £14.5 Washed down with a cheeky Organic Argentinean Malbec £23.50

What the Duke Wanstead says: “We are a neighbourhood pub and dining room in the heart of Wanstead village focused on delish food, fantastic beer and a truly local vibe, family friendly, dog friendly, date friendly, Sunday session friendly….”

All true, borrow a French bull dog, grab a date and head to The Duke. A quintessentially local pub, quite a rarity in London these days. Top tips, book a table on Sunday it gets busy, bring your dancing shoes live music starts at 9pm, you’ll be doing shots of Patron before you know it…… Thanks Duke, look forward to checking out your summer street party soon.

Great Pub, great food. love how they turned this old dive into a great pub with loads of atmosphere

Lovely people, lovely vibe, lovely that it's a hidden gem nowhere near the High Street.

Great addition to Wanstead, lovely atmosphere, great selection of drinks, lovely food & great entertainment on offer. Lovely local pub!!
