I was treated by a very good friend of mine to this 'Gin Afternoon Tea' for my birthday as she knows I am some what of a gin fan.

I had no idea where I was going and what to expect but once they lead us into the Gin Palace I was blown away. For quite a small space the atmosphere and the way it was decorated was so opulent and really made you feel transported back to a Gin palace.

It is mainly a cocktail bar and I can imagine myself quite happily sinking a few gin cocktails at the bar. But onto the main event- the tea!

We were seated in some gorgeous high backed chairs in a snug corner, the waiter explained to us that we would get one cocktail from the list, plus the afternoon tea stand and the choice of tea or coffee.

For my cocktail I chose the Gin Palace Tea- Hendricks, mint, cucumber and apple juice served in a nice highball glass and it was delicious! Then came the food! We had the traditional layer of sandwiches, followed by the cake selection, which were so dainty yet delicious but my favourite was the raspberry and juniper shot! So refreshing.

My only slight criticism would be the scones. The Scones themselves were gorgeous and very tasty but really needed more jam and cream for two people, however, the staff are so lovely I'm sure if I had asked they would have provided more.

By the end I was far to stuffed for tea or coffee so because we didn't have the tea our lovely waiter bought us their signature gin cocktail!

Such a lovely, relaxed and different afternoon tea- already planning to come back with more people.

I was sold at 'Gin Afternoon Tea,' and promptly booked the experience for my friend's birthday. We had a great time, with generous platters of (very instagrammeable and filling) sandwiches, mini desserts and scones, with lovely tea-infused gin cocktails included.

Our only complaints were that it was pretty cold in the bar area, even after heating being turned on, and it could also have been great to have some background music to enliven the atmosphere. Otherwise, a fun twist on the standard afternoon teas!

Feels like a secret spot where you can hunker down with friends or a romantic assignation to work your way through the menu - they have a fantastically varied list of cocktails. Servings are generous, as are the snacks that come with them.

We had a lovely pre-dinner cocktail here. Really knowledgeable & charming "Mixologist". Had the signature "372"- yum!
