One of Hackney’s hidden gems, this eclectic boozer draws a crowd of loyal locals to an interior that mixes candlelit antiques and modern curiosities.

Food during the week comes courtesy of Beast Feast, alongside tasty, traditional roasts on a Sunday. Beers look like they could be a draw, with Kona Big Wave Golden Ale, Berlin Pilsner and Brooklyn Lager just some of those on draught.

Keep an eye out for quizzes on Tuesdays, plus DJs playing at the weekend.

The Kenton says
We are a traditional pub with a Norwegian twist, full of eclectic décor and ornaments collected over the years. The Kenton is very much a community pub where everyone is welcomed by our friendly staff.

Our kitchen is the home of street food legend Beast Feast who is serving a variety of dishes including burgers and ginger battered haloumi between Monday and Saturday, and an immense roast on Sundays.

There is a wide selection of drinks and we rotate our drafts and ales on a regular basis, but everyone’s favourite (including the landlord’s) is the Big Wave golden ale from Hawaii.

You can also book our back room or garden snug for your party up to 40 people, for no charge or minimum spend.

We love dogs, and children are welcome until 7pm.

This is a great pub in East London, many say the best in Hackney. It's quite small and cosy, shows live sports, great decor and a good selection of beers! They've always got events on as well. Definitely worth a visit.

I feel this pub has a winning formula in that it has a very honest approach and just does what it does well. Very well in fact! It's won numerous awards which are listed in the TimeOut section. It's not too big or small and uses it's space well and has a nice little garden. It has a quirkiness about it but certainly isn't trying too hard. It attracts a nice mix of people and there's always a bit of a buzz about it. They also host fun film screenings and other things like that. It's a very friendly place!

A very welcoming pub which is small enough to give that cosy feel everyone is looking for at the moment but not too small that you feel like the staff are too close. Quirky Norwegian inspired interiors and a corner full of boardgames. Great for a Sunday afternoon glass of red and the roast is great too - the beef was a little tough but the lamb was amazing. Highly recommend!!

What a fantastic pub! I'm not too often in the Hackney region but wasn't disappointed to find this awesome place. Very lively, great music. The decoration is a very odd mix of naked women and maps of Norway... Wish I'd asked what this was all about. It feels like whatever old and cool object the owner finds, he brings as an addition to the pub and it works. A lot of craft beers were on offer, which is always a plus for me. Finally, they have a really good garden that, once again, is decorated with peculiar items.

I traveled far for this hummus and I'm glad I did. It's phenomenal. Seriously, smoky and full of flavour especially with the pumpkin seeds atop. The staff person was also awesome in wrapping it up for me in my Tupperware for takeaway, and including extra seeds and breadcrumbs wrapped in foil. The portion is pretty enormous too. Really, a stellar meal! The pub's interior is also pretty funky with a hodgepodge of decorations and a deer's head. If I lived nearby I would get this hummus all the time!

The beer selection is amazing, the staff is so nice and music is always on point, but the real star here is the backyard garden. Imagine a thrift store/yard sale/charity shop turned into a pub garden - that's that. Every bit of furniture is from a different time and in different style, but somehow it just works. Even though I'm not a local anymore, I still come here once a week because it's just so good. One of my favourite bars in Hackney, and let's face it - the competition, even in Homerton, is huge.

The perfect place to drink, eat and hang out. Extremely friendly, lots of fun and just wonderful!

Friendly staff, excellent selection of beers and a great vibe; so much so we refer to it as our living room!

They went above and beyond to make our celebration special. Fantastic humans!

The Kenton really is a genuine Neighborhood venue - you can hear the person you're with, and the staff are nice.

I have drank in the Kenton for decades, man & boy and have seen many transition throughout. The pub has a eclectic mix of locals, which highlights the richness of culture in Hackney today. The staff are without a doubt the most welcoming in Hackney. Giving customers diverse and personal warmest that screams community LOVE and Maddie is is a icon in so many areas that if I continue writing my drink will get warm ❤️

Simply great. Proper neighbourhood local but with all you can expect from the east end in terms of style, clientele, beer selection (IPA & gluten free provided for!) and pop up food. Beware of the "guvnar". Oh and the Guinness game!

We went on a business tripp with the our company arranged by Kenton's owner Egil Johansen. 30 employes having a great time with a good and fun program. The pub had a comforting theme and good food.
We recommend this pub for both social with your work colleges and privat parties.
Best wishes

Really great atmosphere and beer selection, both international and British.

Wouldn't really call this place 'tucked away' but its distance from Mare St & Victoria Park keeps things a bit more low-key than some pubs in the area, making it a an ideal spot for a bit of Sunday drinking, the quality roast certainly helps there too

Lovely friendly pub, with fantastic food and great locals. Always expect a great time.

Loveliest wee pub I know. The people the cosiness, the food and drinks!

Charming local boozer for all. Kids welcome till 7. Quirkey courtyard and covered smoking area at the rear. Usually three cask ales, a cider and three lagers on tap plus Guinness. Great range of spirits, wines, and unusual mixers on offer.
Sunday roasts and midweek food too. They play a good selection of tunes at all times of day.
Ok, it's my local, so do me a favour and don't come here!

One of our favourite cosie sussed boozers now soon to make beautiful babies with Sub Cult. Sexy!

Beautiful place, brilliantly unique and people are very friendly! I would definitely recommend this wonderful Pub.
