A luxury cocktail bar and drinking den in Mayfair, located within the very swanky innards of the Marriott Grosvenor Square - a five-star hotel on Duke Street. There's a Roaring Twenties feel to things here, and it's all very lavish - the art deco aesthetic's a doozy.

The cocktail list is inspired by the Twenties, too. Signature creations such as the The Darb (Citadelle Gin shaken with apricot brandy, Italian vermouth and lemon juice) and a Barney Barnato (pisco stirred with Cocchi Americano, Pierre Ferrand dry Curaçao and aromatic bitters) are served alongside juleps, cobblers, swizzles, imperials, punches, sours, flips and other popular concoctions of the time. Beers, ciders, wines and champagnes feature, too.

A short food menu ranges from charcuterie boards and sharing platters to black pepper mackerel pâté served with soused mooli flutes, marinated asparagus in a sauce gribiche and crisp arctic basil bread with a tomato and pepper dip.

Keep an eye out for some of the intriguing curios of the time, including a scale model of a Bentley Blower - a Le Mans winner driven by the dandies partial to a drink or two around these parts, back in the day.

If it was not for the neon sign on the wall next to the entrance it would be very easy to miss the door to the main entrance here. A few heavy knocks and you should find yourself inside a dark and sophisticated bar.

Bookings are advised although not essential although this is probably dependant on big groups and peak times.

Cocktails here are pricey even by London standards but the range is vast and they pack a punch.

Booked slots only last 1.5 hours so it's perfect for pre drinks or a night cap.

A nice gem hidden beside Marriott hotel. We didn't manage to get through the black door so we entered through the hotel instead. Love the ambience of this place, staff were exceptionally friendly. Definitely not a place for light drinkers, the drinks we had were very strong but I think this is one of the top places in London for whisky cocktails. Remember to ask for nuts, we had to ask for additional servings as it's just so good. A good choice for drinks after dinner date.

Hidden at the side of the Marriot Hotel on Grosvenor Square in Mayfair is a black door. Knock on the door and the slat at the top will be opened and you will be asked if you have a reservation (you need a reservation), when you say yes (because you obviously followed my advice) you will be taken into a really fancy looking twenties themed bar with white marble floors, leather chairs and dark wood walls. It is a perfect cocktails date venue as the drinks list is extensive and the lights and music are low. It’s a little pricey at about £14 a drink, but I only had 3 drinks and ended up crashing a Tesco Xmas party that was being held in the basement of the hotel. So you probably don’t need that many…

This bar is a hidden treasure!  The luggage room is a great cocktail and wine bar by Bond Street. It's easy to make a booking online via the website and its safer to do this because its a popular spot. The bar is connected to the hotel next door. It has a brightly lit entrance and you have to knock on the door to enter and are guided down a secret entrance. The decor is sophisticated and old fashioned. A great place for a special occasion or date night!

Think MadMen in the heart of Mayfair. Order one of the best Old Fashioneds in the city and enjoy this gem of a bar. Great for a quiet assignation.
