Please note, the current food residency at the Rose & Crown is Mexican by Yucatán. Time Out Editors, May 2018.
Tucked away as it is in a trafficky street between Kentish Town and Holloway, The Rose & Crown's passing trade can only really consist of local schoolchildren (there's a primary nearby) and their mummies. This makes it extra commendable that the pub pours a craft beer line-up so well-crafted that a Portland, Oregon, resident would be impressed. Staff are enthusiastic about both beer – they offer free tastes till you decide what you want to order – and about making sure you feel totally comfortable. (We’ve even been asked if we wanted the heating turned up.) The trendy vintage furniture helps make it a very comfortable place to settle into. Board games, a little garden and street food residencies will help afternoons fly by, and some evenings offer DJs and stand-up comedy nights in the events room downstairs. The current residency is WingMan, purveyor of Korean-style wings and burgers.
The Rose & Crown was the original name of this local. It spent ten years as The Torriano before reverting under new ownership in 2014, and in the same year won the Time Out Love London award for favourite pub in Kentish Town. We can see why.
