The Rose & Crown
Sam Sharpe

Craft beer pub with a sunken garden, open-mic comedy nights and live music. Food is provided Thursday through Sunday by street-food residencies.

Please note, the current food residency at the Rose & Crown is Mexican by Yucatán. Time Out Editors, May 2018.

Tucked away as it is in a trafficky street between Kentish Town and Holloway, The Rose & Crown's passing trade can only really consist of local schoolchildren (there's a primary nearby) and their mummies. This makes it extra commendable that the pub pours a craft beer line-up so well-crafted that a Portland, Oregon, resident would be impressed. Staff are enthusiastic about both beer – they offer free tastes till you decide what you want to order – and about making sure you feel totally comfortable. (We’ve even been asked if we wanted the heating turned up.) The trendy vintage furniture helps make it a very comfortable place to settle into. Board games, a little garden and street food residencies will help afternoons fly by, and some evenings offer DJs and stand-up comedy nights in the events room downstairs. The current residency is WingMan, purveyor of Korean-style wings and burgers.

The Rose & Crown was the original name of this local. It spent ten years as The Torriano before reverting under new ownership in 2014, and in the same year won the Time Out Love London award for favourite pub in Kentish Town. We can see why.

Love this place. Great beer (things that you'd have to hunt down normally), relaxed, fun staff and now even some tasty food downstairs in the back garden.

Only thing we don't love is the (well chosen) tunes are a bit shrill sometimes, but most of the time the music is only on quietly.

Strongly recommended. Fantastic pub.

One of my favourite pubs in the world. Great atmosphere, lots of great craft beers, amazing burgers and a cracking comedy night every Thursday!

Great little craft beer pub, always with a bit of atmosphere. Decent food there now too!

Great venue, great value and friendly staff, well managed. Don't miss a visit to this place...

Our family like the Rose & Crown as it is a small and cosy local pub with a friendly atmosphere. It offers an amazing range of beers and last summer we really enjoyed sitting in the sunken garden.

I've just moved houses and one of the things that made me really, really want to move in was when the guys (my new housemates that is) told me they were hanging out at our local pub across the street. A lot. That's how you know it's a friendly house. And what a good pub it is! Free comedy in the basement, awesome food residents that change bi-weekly, craft beers (I've tasted a blood orange lager and an apricot ale so far), basement garden, super friendly staff. I LOVE IT! I think I'm going to spend a looooot of time there. Come join me!

Friendly local atmosphere, serving many varied craft beers and great sounds

Little gem in the area, great beers, food, atmosphere, your own venue to hire for free, live music, comedy and great people. Fantastic!

What a fantastic place.  The range of beer is Epic!

Great service and always good tunes playing

And now they have have smoking buns onsite!

Perfect :)

A great place to use wifi and drink coffee by day, plus there is a sunken garden to discover out the back perfect for summer boozing. Plus a bang on selection of craft beers - there's always something new to try

I love this pub, great craft beer and they have interesting food pop up's. Lovely atmosphere.

Cozy, friendly, local boozer with a great selection of drinks and evening entertainment.

Best pub in Kentish Town! If you haven't been yet, go! Fantastic craft beer and now with pop up food in the beer garden! So lucky to live just across the road :) And to finish, a really great team Tanzi & Jeff

Brilliant craft beer pub with a cool crowd. I love having a drink at the back garden where you can see (and smell!) Smoking Buns cooking their food. Great beers, delicious good-looking food, gigs, comedy, quiz... And friendly stuff. You never have to wait to order at the bar, which is also great, great staff

Best Craft beer pub in London, brilliant food courtesy of Smoking Buns, rotating beer lines, hidden gem of a garden....event space for music, comedy and private hire

Best pub in Kentish Town! Friendly staff! Specially the little guy called Theo. His Espresso martinies are the best! Nice place to hang out after work or during the weekend. Don't miss out their Halloween party coming up soon!
