The Vanbrugh

A handsome pub and dining room on Colomb Street, a short walk from the centre of Greenwich. In addition to the food and drink, visitors head down to watch the big sport matches as well as for special events and the weekly pub quiz - there's even a prize for the best name. Good for when the grey matter's not working as well as it should.

The beer selection is good enough to attract the ale hounds of SE10, with 11 beers on draught, three of which are rotational craft beers, alongside the house brew (an IPA) and regularly changing guest beers on cask. There’s also a great selection of bottled craft beers from the likes of Amundsen, Tiny Rebel, Fierce Beer and Anspach & Hobday.

The food menu is typical gastropub fare, with dishes including the 'Vanbrugh beef burger' and a wide selection of seasonal dishes that change regularly over the year. Tuesday is a good day to pop in, as the whole menu if half price, plus every weekday there's a lunchtime deal that offers pub classics for £8. Roasts on Sunday are a given too.

The Vanbrugh is my favourite pub in Greenwich. The land lady is lovely and welcoming. The food is delicious and there is a nice, relaxed atmosphere.

Off the beaten track, great food and beer. Recently revamped their beer garden

Amazing service, fantastic beers and frankly, the best most innovative food of any pub in South East London. A chef with a passion for perfection and a team of staff both connected with the local community creating an atmosphere reminiscent of family. Frankly the best pub in Greenwich

A little further from Greenwich centre and so quieter. Lovely garden where they have bbq Saturday's in summer.

All the staff are amazing.
My family owned a pub and didn't remotely have such lovely staff like these! Great drinks, delicious food and unreal atmosphere!! Surely a win

Delightful pub always delicious freshly prepared & cooked food; great for family events and cozy drinking nights. A friendly welcome for all including doggies. Always a great visit

I'm so lucky to have this as my local pub. Staff is great! They also have great beers on taps and a fantastic menu. A big plus is the back garden where kids can play freely and have a good time.

Great neighbourhood pub, cool setting, nice staff, great range of drinks, EXCELLENT outdoor space and good food.

Because the Vanbrugh has a great atmosphere, with food that is of exceptional quality I'm a regular. Plus the friendly staff and family vibe make this the best pub in Greenwich.

Easily the best pub in Greenwich. The perfect mix of locals and people coming to see what all the fuss is about, which creates a welcoming and lively atmosphere. Lovely staff, excellent beer and great food.

A rare breed of a pub on all counts, great vibe, lovely people, great food. Russell

Lovely atmosphere, fantastic food (cooked for all to see), friendly staff and different areas to relax
and enjoy the wide variety of beers & wine.

A great local pub for meeting friends and taking family (including dogs!). Top food and a great selection of drinks. Great staff and a warm welcome - with lots of things going on! A real gem

Family pub, great menu, exciting beers & the best staff. Jo runs a fantastic independent local pub in the heart of her community

Traditional pub, quirky and cool with 2 spacious back rooms and an amazing garden. The food is delicious and very reasonably priced and the staff are lovely too, well worth a visit.

Best pub in Greenwich, no question. A friendly local, great food, lovely staff, always got something fun going on, can't fault it!

Super friendly staff, decent food, child and dog friendly all make the Vanbrugh the perfect family pub. With a sizeable outside space, intimate dining area and regular events this place has it all.

A brilliant venue, with knowledgeable and attentive staff and a great landlady. A true community pub with fundraisers, events, local meet ups, quizzes and all the best sports. Great beer and good too.

This pub is what we all need in our life, it's such an amazing place. I can go solo or with a friend I'll always have a great time. The staff are bubbly, cool and friendly and the food is beautiful LOVE.

This is a fantastic Pub, Friendly, Amazing food with fresh ingredients, competent professional staff, beautiful garden. Whatever the occasion, a quick pint after work, or a lunch on Sunday with friends and family, I have never been disappointed with The Vanbrugh.

Lovely local 'secret' with great atmosphere, friendly staff and gorgeous garden.

Great pub. Fantastic community spirit and friendly staff. Good selection of craft beers and always something new. Great for food. Well recomended

As somebody who was born in Greenwich and lived here all my life I am a huge fan of most pubs in Greenwich. The Cutty, Pelton, Union, Gypsy Moth and the Plume all hot contenders but The Vanbrugh has to be my favorite. The Vanbrugh is local, warm, shows the sport and has the most interesting guest beers and the best staff. An ideal afternoon/evening in Greenwich involves walking along the river (bypassing The Trafalgar- not worth it unless a tourist- requires major management overhaul), watching the sun go down outside The Cutty Sark, heading up to The Vanbrugh via the Crown for a swift one, some southern fried chicken in The Vanbrugh- it is outstanding and then popping down to The Pelton from about 10pm onwards. Unbeatable...

I've been drinking at the vanbrugh for years and I couldn't wish for a better local!

Probably one of the best Sunday roasts in London. Not to mention an excellent atmosphere and incredibly friendly staff.

One of those pubs that makes everyone feel like a local, add a great food menu (inc. gorgeous Sunday Roasts), huge drink selection, and events, and this is a rarity of a pub - delighted it's my local!
