Admiral Codrington

Bars and pubs South Kensington
32 Love It

Hiding behind the unappetising nickname of the Cod, this neighbourhood pub has been scrubbed up to meet the 21st century, with cream walls, spot lighting and varnished pine furniture ticking most of the modern-boozer boxes.

Pictures of carefree cricketers and jolly huntsmen hint at the Admiral Codrington’s former Sloane Ranger reputation, but these days, it’s better known for the unpretentious pub menu on offer in the adjacent restaurant.

If the draught ales aren’t to your taste, the 30-strong wine list can be enjoyed by diners and drinkers alike, with bottles from around £15. The unusually well heated courtyard is relished by smokers in the winter months.

I went to this place in search of a Sunday roast.

First off I have to say the staff need a lesson in customer service....I was standing at the bar alone and no less than 3 staff made eye contact but didn’t acknowledge my existence....charming!

Having said that the food came out quiet quickly and was good. Definately wont be raving about it or sending any of my friends in search of it but if you are close and looking for a good feed it will fill the void. Don’t bother asking for extra gravy tho it is really not nice at all.

Came here for their burger night Tuesdays and I am glad I did. The classic burger here is already known to be one of the better ones in London but burger night Tuesday just gives so many more options. They have a weekly rotating special alongside at least 5 other burgers that are a Tuesday constant, all for a reasonable price (still going to be more expensive than your top chains like patty&bun and bleecker though) in a nice restaurant setting. Service is very friendly and pleasant as well and since it is in a pub, the array of drinks of offer means you have plenty of pairings to go with your burger. Finally the sides are outstanding and this is probably where the Admiral edges out other burger chains. Be warned of the size of the sides! They can be entire main courses themselves!

I was rollin by, lost as fuck, when some babe on her stoop told me there was a pub on the corner that was poppin off. So I said fuck it, I need food but he'll I'll stick with booze. Well, the kitchen was closed, but hell had a drink and started a conversation with a siren named Lydia and turns out she works for you! Just wanted to say, keep her around.

One of the best pubs in south ken with exceptional food and drink offer, with a lovely cosy beer garden restaurant, and a private dining room.At the COD as its known you can do anything from just a nice cold beer and a burger,to a large private party. :)

Wonderful service and burger! I went there for the infamous burgers and left there  feeling satisfactory. My mate and I ordered a regular burger and duck burger, we both shared them. Delicious!! Too bad it's a little tad for me to get from WC2.

Great place to meet up with friends. gets packed at the weekends, but this only adds to the atmosphere. Small and snug outside area.

I wasn’t really sure what to expect from the dining area when I first walked into The Admiral Codrington Pub. On a Friday evening it was pretty full and really loud (as one would expect from an after work crowd). But as soon as I mentioned I had a reservation I was lead back to a modern, refurbished area in the back that was just enough off the main pub area that the loud crowd was a mere hum of noise.

In the dining area it is bright and white and has a large glass roof. Certainly a nice atmosphere for dinner with a friend.

As it gets darker and the tables are candle lit it would even make a nice romantic spot.We really enjoyed dinner at Admiral Codrington. It is a bit more expensive then I’d really want to spend on an average night out, but for the occasional treat, it’s definitely worth it.

Arguably the best burgers London has to offer. Great local pub, very hidden but amazing for people watching. Wine list is what you would expect for Chelsea.

A hidden gem. Fantastic food, very friendly staff and a great mix of local workers and residents. Well worth finding.
