Idlewild

Part of the Ruby mini-chain of cocktail bars, Idlewild graced the cover of our Bars, Pubs & Clubs Guide a couple of years back, and remains something of a looker. Billing itself as a ‘pub deluxe’, this artistically designed joint attracts a well-turned-out crowd looking for a little more of a night out than most of the other local drinking holes can provide.

Downstairs, it’s comparatively mellow, an ambience due in no small part to the presence of a full menu (pork belly, poshed-up shepherd’s pie) from which to choose. Things are usually a little livelier upstairs, as drinkers select from a cultured, traditional cocktail list to a DJ-built soundtrack at weekends.
