An antic pub in Leytonstone village. Excellent pub, they do a really popular Sunday Roast best to book though as it gets really busy. The highlight is the beer garden which they run Deckchair cinema in. The bar is really well stocked too, good selection of ales, craft beer and ciders. Good bar staff too doesn't take long to get served on a busy Saturday night.

This is still such a great bar with enormous beer garden. Fantastic selection always of beer and lagers.

What a fantastic local pub!!! Fantastically decorated without being pretentious and too hipster. The staff are friend, great selection of beers on tab, live music and events durign the week.

HOWEVER what makes this place five stars is the Sunday Roast!!! I have been searching London for the best Sunday roast but I have to say the roast pork here is just divine!!!

Fantastic local pub! Great atmosphere and decor which makes you feel homely and comfortable. They have a range of drinks from craft beer, tap beer and cocktails. I had an amazing spicy Bloody Mary served in a jar! A large venue which also has local bands play and even movie nights on Tuesdays running above the pub in an old ballroom. There's even an outdoor area with couches and fusball tables for some good old competitive fun. I would say pop into the Red Lion on a lazy Sunday for a roast lunch and some might not leave till the evening as you nestle into a comfy chair with a drink in hand.

Obviously the winner of this category given it was beaten by a pub in Wanstead - great beers , great food and an amazing ball room all beat the DUKE hands down. Its also in the actual area stated.

I'm a recent transplant from the Canadian west coast craft beer scene, and the Red Lion excels in all 'hipster' categories: amazing craft beer, innovative food, relaxed and fun loving atmosphere, great music and events...and more than you ask for from your 'local'. Cheers !

Everything you could want from a local puba- brilliant beers, delicious food and plenty of places to sit!

Great music and events. Staff and food are fantastic. Venue and artwork in the awesome beer garden are brilliant. Nowhere near me but worth travelling to, I'd recommend this place to anyone of all ages, great during the day or for a night out

Deck chair cinema, live music, old school console games nights and if it's good enough for Norman Jay MBE, it's good enough for me. With an epic list of craft brews and a sunday roast that's always booked out, you won't find a place that can cater to the old and new of east london under one roof that also happens to have a fucking ballroom upstairs.

Great place to go for a Sunday roast and get together with friends with a massive garden to sit out in in the summer

Best local pub! Super spacious, nicely decorated - feels like home. The staff is the nicest in London and there's always something fun going on - Beer, food and garden are ace!

Excellent real ales and guest ciders. Huge garden with occasional cinema screenings, and fantastic Sunday roasts. A regular!

Oh, this is a lovely pub! The beer garden is great in the summer. And in the winter if you like sucking tar into your lungs with tar-tubes in order to feel happier and smilier and to get the opportunity to mingle with sexy strangers. Admittedly the last time I went in there it was a bit like a creche, with toddlers running amok everywhere - this one little critter in particular was constantly trying to escape on all fours out on to the street. His mum seemed to neither notice nor care, but it put me right on edge. I was just getting on with reading some friend's poetry while supping a glass of red.

It's a great pub, with lots of events and a large selection of beverages. I'd like to see Vegan options on the menu, but at least I do one or two vegetarian. They get five stars if they rectified this 😜

Something for everyone, Sunday lunches for the families, relaxing beer after work, late night studenty sessions at the weekend. Love it, love the proper beer

Gret selection of beers, huge garden and excellent kitchen. Probably the best pub in East London.

The best pub in East London by far! Great beers and atmosphere with great music at the weekends.

Home from home vibe, no mess, no drama, just smiles, wicked tunes and a huge emphasis on comfort.

Best pub in East London! Huge selection of beers and THE Sunday Roast to go for in London!

By far the best pub in Leytonstone and perhaps the whole of Waltham Forest. I can't imagine E11 without it.

The pub quiz on Monday evenings - hosted by the wonderful Robin - is especially good. People travel from all over London to attend week after week.

Beautiful big old pub with an enviously huge garden. Prices are generally reasonable (apart from a mate's £7.20 pint - still no idea why that one was so pricey!) and the food is varied and tasty. Big portions at decent prices. Only one or two veggie options.

From the fantastic Antic group, this is a brilliant local although the food can be a little hit and miss. But their outdoor space and cinema more than make up for it and they strongly support local events like the local arts trail. Having recently spent a bit of money doing up the (formerly smelly) toilets, it's got even better.

This is an excellent bar - and the coffee is also great - but the bar staff are all hipsters and they can be quite rude and obnoxious. Better off going to their sister pub Leyton Technical which has some excellent bar staff, a great beer selection and a Wednesday night quiz.
