How do you amass 1.3 million followers on Instagram? Simple. Shotgun a shit-hot username and post epic photos of the best city in the world. That's what Dave Burt did, one Londoner who set up @London two years ago to 'tell London’s story beautifully'. In the space of a year @London gained 120,000 followers, thanks in part to Jamie Oliver, who sent 50,000 people in Burt's direction after recommending the account. By the time 2015 came around Burt quit his job in IT to be a full-time 'Grammer. 'Our channel is testimony to just how much London is loved and revered all over the world,' Burt told us. 'We are simply giving them a chance to see London daily in a stunning way.' Scrolling through the @London feed reveals snapshots from the capital's beautiful ’burbs and colourful inner-city corners, as well as the obvious tourist hotspots, and we've rounded up 33 of the dreamiest.
They said that Arctic conditions were blowing into the UK, but seriously?! ? Brilliant photo by @mrroythomas on the south bank today with #StPauls as a perfect backdrop. The fully-animated Polar Bear belongs to Sky Atlantic who were publicising a new TV drama called Fortitude. Now that's something you don't see everyday...! ?? // #dayinthelife #thisislondon #London
Great little story this... last night we were shooting in #London and @daveburt stumbled across a little post-it-note by @onemansnote down on #RegentStreet. The notes, left around London randomly to spread love and hope, read "The minute you think of giving up, think of the reason you held on so long". London needs more love people! We love this! ❤️ // #communityfirst #thisislondon #londonstreetlife

#KyotoGardens in #HollandPark by @bernadettefmeneses ? With 22.5 hectares of gardens, children’s play facilities, sports areas, a cafeteria and large areas of woodland abundant with wildlife, it is perhaps a lesser-known wonder in #Kensington. Contained within the park is the beautiful Kyoto Garden; a Japanese garden donated by the Chamber of Commerce of Kyoto in 1991. // #londonreviewed #thisislondon
