Be a druid at Somerset House and win cold hard cash

What could be better than winning £100? How about winning £100 and a ‘mystery-druidic-themed trip for two’? That’s the prize on offer from artist Bedwyr Williams as part of his ‘Iron Age open-mic night’ at Somerset House. Williams is asking for submissions from the public (that’s you) for ‘druidic tableaux’. We’re not sure what those are, but his night looks pretty ace, it’s an excuse to dress up and not be mocked and there’s actual cash on the table. Plus, you get to perform in the mysterious Deadhouse at Somerset House, an eerie subterranean space normally off-limits to the public.

There are six performance slots up for grabs as part of an evening which also promises ‘pagan cocktails’ and ‘heathen nibbles’. Even if you don’t want to do a turn as a druid, the whole thing sounds truly bizarre, and they even provide you with a robe (unless you have your own, of course).

If you have a great idea for a druidic tableau – and we’re sure that many, many of you do – then full details on how to submit your proposal are at somersethouse.org.uk. You can book tickets there too, if you just fancy a Friday night druidic knees-up. Stonehenge!
