Haven't managed to book a holiday this year? Don't panic. Birra Moretti is bringing a taste of Italy to London with the return of The Moretti Gran Tour - and it's got nothing to do with OAPs (gran means 'great' in Italian, dontcha know?). From July 19 to 24, they'll be transforming the Old Truman Brewery into an Italian street food festival, where you can sample food from Sicily, Naples and Tuscany without having to leave the M25.
They've lined up ten street food vendors, who'll be cooking up Italian food like mamma used to make. Expect some familiar faces including Pizza Pilgrims and the Arancini Brothers, as well as some newbies - with everything from traditional Sicilian food from Hackney-based Just Fab to sweet treats from La Gelatiera. As well as plenty of Italian food, there will also be a serious supply of ice cold Birra Moretti beer, including two new beers from Moretti's Regionali range. And the best part? Entry is free, which means you've got more money for drinking and eating.
And if you're not content with just eating Italian food, you can also learn to make it at one of their foodie masterclasses. The pasta pros at Brighton’s CinCin will teach you how to recreate one of four classic pasta dishes from scratch, and once you're done, you'll never want to buy a jar of ready made pasta sauce again. If you want to sink your teeth into something meatier, the folks from Peckham-based Forza Win are hosting a Tuscan Butchery masterclass to teach you the basics of preparing the meat and the fire for the perfect steak. And if that's not enough, both classes will involve pairing the dishes you cook with one of the four variants of Moretti beer. Bellissimo!
The Moretti Gran tour is on from July 19 - July 24 at the Brick Lane Yard, Old Truman Brewery, Buxton Street, E1 5EG
