Comedy superstar (and future Mayor of London?) Eddie Izzard announces West End residency

After jet-setting around the globe on the most extensive comedy tour ever, Eddie Izzard is finally staying still for a month in the new year, playing a month-long run in the West End. And tickets start at a very reasonable £15.

The 53-year-old comic’s ‘Force Majeure’ tour has already taken in a whopping 28 countries, and Izzard’s performed the show in no less than four languages. Not that that’s a challenge for the surrealist arena-filler – he once ran 43 marathons in 51 days, for Christ's sake.

For his run at the Palace Theatre, Izzard’s performing a ‘reloaded’ version of the show, so expect a bunch of new jokes among the deconstructions of Greek myths, musicals about trouserless spiders and, er, tales of human sacrifice.

Two years ago Izzard told us that, in 2020, he’s going to pack in the LOLs and stand for Mayor of London. So, who knows – this could be your last chance to catch his flights of fancy on stage (rather than at a campaign rally).

Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday, and you can snap them up here.

More comedy on sale this week: extra shows for Kevin Hart and Sam SimmonsCheck out all the big name comedians heading to London.
