We’re rounding up the funnest ways to get fit in London every month, from classes that’ll beat that bulge to adventures that’ll make you feel superhuman. Here’s this month’s top five.

Pulse Open Day at Virgin Active Gyms

If you like to ahem, move it move it, Virgin Active gyms are launching a new dance class with booty-shaking club anthems, glow sticks and disco lights to take the aerobic workout up a level. Be one of the first to try it out at Virgin Active Walbrook, Barbican or Strand this November.

Date: November 7, 10am-6pm (classes take place every two hours).

Length: 1 hour.

Cost: FREE.

Booking: Take a screenshot of the day pass that will appear on the Virgin Active Twitter or Facebook accounts and show a print-out or present your mobile phone at the club reception to take part.

 Surfset at Gymbox Farringdon

There's not much surfing happening around these parts. But indoor surfing? Sure, why not? Gymbox offers a functional training class that’ll give you the cardiovascular and strength benefits of hanging ten without the possibility of drowning – but if for some odd reason the lack of water freaks you out, you can be rest assured you'll be drenched in your own sweat. Gnarly.

Date: Saturday (11am) and Monday (5.30pm).

Length: 45 minutes.

Life Style Sports Run in the Dark 10k

Launched in 2010, this after-hours fun run brings together a global community of pavement-pounders to raise money for The Mark Pollock Trust – a charity that aims to find a cure for paralysis. A whopping 2,500 Londoners are expected to join the cause, so at this time of the year, it couldn’t be a better way to do good and have a crack at burning off the season's podge. Result!

Date: Friday November 11, 8pm.

Length: All 10k participants must be able to complete the run in under 1 hour 20 minutes.

Cost: £24.95 (entry fee will goes directly to The Mark Pollock Trust).

 Airbourne at Oxygen Freejumping

Bouncing up and down for fitness' sake is on the brink of having its moment, as trampoline parks become a thing and science claims a 45 minute jumping sesh can burn an impressive 400 calories. Believe the hype at this new high intensity jump-a-long in the main park space at Oxygen Freejumping in West Acton. 

Date: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7pm.

Length: 1 hour.

Cost: £10 (and an extra £2 for special jumping socks if you don’t already own some).

 The Viking Method pop-up at Secret Urban Escape

PTs say you should always keep the body guessing when doing a workout – and thanks to the folks behind Secret Urban Escape, you can bet you won’t have a clue what’s going on. To test that theory, this new pop-up will give you the chance to experience The Viking Method, a new body shocker of a workout from Scandinavia that’s designed to burn more fat than usual. It’s based on HIIT (high intensity interval) training which means plenty of killer moves, sweat and maybe tears of joy - and after all is said and done, there will be all the food to refuel.

Date: Friday November 20 7.15pm.  

Length: 3 hours and 15 minutes.

Cost: £35.
