We've had our burger phase, sure, and there's always a cosily British spot in our bellies for roast beef, but when it comes to cooked cow, the king of the meats must surely be steak. Flat Iron does really good steak, and for really good prices, but they really know how to make a steak taste even better – by making it FREE. It's opening a third branch in Covent Garden today and is celebrating by giving away its steak (and its house salad) for three evenings straight, starting at 6pm. It's first come, first served and obviously you're not going to be the only carnivore in London who's up for this deal, so we recommend you get there as early as your boss will allow. Those who do end up queueing will be fed beef dripping popcorn and cocktails though, so waiting doesn't sound so awful.
The new place has some cool features to keep an eye out for, too. An on-site butchery, glass-fronted oak barrels full of specially brewed northern ale, a gelato bar and plenty more of those adorable little meat cleavers. We'll be checking all those bits out. Once we've eaten our FREE STEAK.
