It's no secret that London is rife with novelty cafés, whether you're after cereal, grilled cheese, or just fancy hanging out with some blobfish, we've got it covered. But now a new kind of café is opening its doors and there's not a deep sea creature in sight. Central Street Café is a community-oriented project that will be donating all of its profits to cover the cost of running the ‘Over 55s Lunch Club’, which supplies 10,500 meals every year to elderly people in need at St Luke’s Community Centre. They're setting up shop in Old Street and they'll be serving up breakfast, lunch and dinner and there's even a rooftop terrace. Even if you have a habit of eating out a bit more often than your bank balance would like, then you can pretty much justify a meal here anytime because it's all for a good cause. And let's face it, dinner on a rooftop is a much more appealing way to donate to charity than running a marathon or something.
Opens July 9, Monday-Wednesday 8am-8pm, Thursday-Friday 8am-9pm, Saturday-Sunday 9am-9pm. Central Street Café, 90 Central Street, EC1V 8AJ.
