The opening of a fancy new museum deserves a shindig to celebrate – and luckily for us, it's not a private party. Here are four things you won't want to miss at the opening weekend.

1. Sign up to hear exhibition designer Morag Myserscough in conversation with two of the Design Museum's curators. Saturday November 26.

2. Let the little ones get hands-on at drop-in sessions experimenting with paper structures inspired by the dynamic roof. Saturday 26 and Sunday 27, noon-5pm.

3. Designer-in-residence Alix Bizet will be exploring the design potential of human hair. Saturday 27.

4. Go on a guided tour around the new building - they'll be running tours all weekend.
